A new Year, so whats new?

Its almost 2011 and I,m wondering what has changed? Did I learn to be a better person? Did I grow as a human being? I really think every year that passes by, should teach us something. We should have learned that judgments of others is wrong. That they only ones we can change, or should want to...is ourselves. Our reactions to the things others do, lies within us, not them. If you have things about yourself you want to change, find a way to do that this year. This may be the only one you get...You have to love yourself before anyone else can love you...Reach out to those around you and let them know you care...Smile that wonderful smile, and mean it. If someone is down...cheer them. If someone is proud, rejoice with them. Hold a child, hug your pet, and let an older know that they count in this modern world. Theres a reason we are on this planet, theres a reason we are able to love one another. Don,t let all the bad news, make you who you are. Lets pay more attention to whats good in the human race. God Bless, suz

Are we stupid or what?

Come on people! Some actions are just too stupid for words! Well, not for my words. LOL...A very sad stupid thing happened this last weekend. A young man's car slid into a ditch, and he decided to walk home to get his truck. According to the news reports, he didn't have a jacket on, just a sweat shirt and no socks. He choose to walk across a field instead of staying on the road, where he might have caught a ride...They found him dead...He WAS a father and husband...People went out into the storm just so they could shop! Some made it some didn't...Human skin is not made to withstand high winds and freezing temps. IT FREEZES! We are a nation of people that cannot wait for anything. We have to satisfy our wants right NOW, phooey on the cost. The loss of this young man makes me angry...It didn't Have to happen. It was a suicide thing to do. They haven't said there was alcohol involved, but I do know that it can make people do things they wouldn't normally do. Its really too bad we humans only use a small part of the beautiful gift of our brains..We are capable of so much more...God Bless this man's family that will suffer great pain over his death...

Christmas

Its almost here folks..Seems like one day I was golfing, and now I'm wrapping gifts and shoveling snow. I'm looking forward to it though. Having the family all here, to share food, and gifts, and good times. My favorite thing is having my great grandson staying over with his mom and dad. Hearing his voice in the morning, calling for nana. Thats me by the way.The tree is up and decorated, the gifts are wrapped and the menu planned. Almost time to start baking the bars and cookies...Soon it will be the New Year and hopefully a better one for the economy. Yes time flies...especially for us olders. The young are like cars going up a hill...slowly they move forward. In no hurry. Us olders are also like cars only we have reached the top and are flying down the hill without brakes!!!! Take time to enjoy the moments. Enjoy your food, really pay attention to the wee ones, and hug your pets...Be good to your body, its the only one you get.
Tell someone special that you love them, and give someone a helping hand. Life is short and you want to make it a special one. I for one, am going to try to learn something new today,. Im going to listen to good music and find something to laugh about. Late ta

Paper!

I really get tired of all the excess paper that comes in the mail! Phone books! Holy cow! Whats with all the phone books? What does one DO with all the phone books? It seems that that dilemma is over at least, since they are not going to be sending them out anymore. Yay! Then theres the cardboard ads and offers that fill up the mailbox, and your waste basket...The biggest culprit is the insurance companies and Medicare. Huge packets of information that one human person cannot possibly read....or want to...Talk about waste! Why not put this info on a CD and send that? I actually have boxes of paper up in the storeroom that I'm afraid to get rid of. What if I needed it for some odd reason? To prove something or check something? Of COURSE I will never needs to do any of that! At least I haven't yet. Are there some brave people out there that throw this stuff away as soon as it arrives? Do you throw out old bills before 5 years is up? Do you slash and smash, and shred instantly? Why should one have to walk out to the mail box only to find junk mail? I'm considering putting a junk mail box out there. Do ya think the mail lady would separate for me? Id offer to pay her money to do this....I have to go now....Theres a pile of paper on my table that calls my name....Late ta

Thanksgiving

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and a peaceful one.....I give so much thanks for my family, my friends and my Dear hubby. Thanks for all the things I have to keep me warm, fed, and safe. Thanks for all the men and women that fight to keep us safe from those that would destroy our way of life. Those that have given their lives so we may live...God Bless one and all on this holiday and every day of the year.....

Sarah Plain? Are you kidding me?

Well, it seems some people think she could win a presidential election. Say what? This woman would be a joke and thats the truth. What if after a few months as President , she decided she didn't like it? Would she try to resign? Does anyone honestly think she could run this country? With her ye haw and jeepers, the heads of state would really take her seriously now wouldn't they? Frankly speaking I think the republican party would like to have her in there so they could run things for her. They may be in error thinking that. She may very well be a rogue and run amok. Shes like those other reality stars, [Stars?] little knowledge of what she speaks....Lord Lord, what is this country coming too? Late Ta...

Your future, NOW!

I hope that all you young folks are making plans for your senior years now....Time is not in your favor, and the years pass very quickly. Yesterday I was 20 without worry. Now I'm 68 and on social security that doesn't make one rich...Hubby is 71 and feels he still needs to work to have enough money. Oh, we have a 401k and some savings but how long would that last if we lived on it?
If we had been able to start saving at a young age we could be in good shape now. Figure ten dollars a week. 40 a month. 12 months in a year. 480 a year. In 20 yrs you could have 9,600. In 40 yrs 19,200. Thats on just 10 dollars a week...Double that or triple that...You really need to protect yourselves from being without in your senior years....Think about it...Late ta

Its OVER!

The golf season that is. We finished up with 3 days of wonderful golf on a beautiful well maintained course. I will miss it very much until next spring...
No more mowing lawn either. I cleaned out the green house and stored all the empty pots and planters. The doo dahs and ornaments that lingered in among the plants are put away once more. The flower beds are wrapped in leaves and sleeping peacefully...The trees are bare of leaves and waiting in stately repose for the snows and winds to come. They are not afraid, they are brave and will hold up well all winter long. Now me? Thats another thought entirely. I'm not a fan of the slippery roads, and heavy snows. The bitter cold winds that cut like a knife thru skin uncovered...I do like to stay in, where its warm and cozy. Bake fragrant breads, and pies, that fill the house with heavenly smells. I love a good book, or crocheting a nice warm afghan. I love a good movie and a long phone call from a dear one. Okay, I guess winter has its good points, as does every other season of the year. I will celebrate every one of them and enjoy my life...Late Ta....

Avatar and other ramblings..

We watched Avatar last night on our wide screen tv. I loved it! Irv, not so much. Hes never been into fantasy that much, so it didn't surprise me. I would have loved to see it in 3D, and can imagine how much more fantastic it would have been...The animals might have been a trifle much, but in ones imagination..... it could have been. When I went to bed, I couldn't leave those people behind. I was still there, flying through the sky's and walking through the beautiful landscape of Pandora. It actually took me back to my childhood, when we would play in the woods and our imaginations would soar. We were never mom.s kids. We were heroes and villains. We had beautiful white horses and shiny armor. We lived like Pandora's' people, in a world of imagination...How absolutely wonderful...

Im so mad!!~!!!

Ive been after the clinic to reimburse me for an over charge they made....They keep saying they'll look into it.... Today I got a call from the hospital saying I owed 50 dollars, Money the insurance didn't pay....I told them I had received no bill on this, and after checking he noticed that the bill was sent out yesterday!!!!!! Yesterday! Which means I didn't even get it yet! Way to go St Josephs. I said that if I got the bill, I would look it over and probably pay it...I told the CLINIC that if I owed THEM the 100 bucks, they would have had it in collection by now...Soooooo, I supposedly owe the hospital 50 dollars and the clinic owes me 100....What the H E double hockey stick? Heres the news folks, If you owe, its right now honey! If THEY owe you....its when they get around to it.....Isnt life grand? Late ta...

yah Im a bit scared

This blog isn't about Halloween, its about my surgery on Wednesday. I am a bit afraid because of my age. I don't like to be put under and lose control of my faculty's. Your then in the hands of a more or less stranger...Oh Ive met the surgeon, and really like him but....Hes still a stranger for the most part. Because I feel fine, and have no issues to speak of, I hate to go under the knife. Well, I don't really think its a knife per say...They,[ the drs.] have found some issues on a ct scan so they feel they MUST go in and check it out...So...Im not sleeping well wondering what they will find or do when they get in there. Okay, so they won't actually be in there! In MY mind they are. In there walking around, shoving and moving parts and cutting with a huge knife. Like a Samori sword! I can see them throwing out parts like leftovers of a meal...Drama queen? Yah I guess your right...But I would sure like to skirt right past Wednesday right now....Late ta

Happiness

I had a great day yesterday...Two of my grandsons came over for pizza and the Packer game. They brought their new girlfriends to meet us. The girls are very nice, and the guys seem happy. Thats all a gramma really wants for them. It was great hearing young happy voices, bounce off the walls once more. The Packers won the game so that was also a good thing....
Its kinda warm out this am, and because it could very well be the last one, off we go to play a round of golf. I made a birdie last friday, so hopefully I can do well today.
Their talking high winds tomorrow. Whats up with that? I really dont want to have branches all over the lawn again. NO! Im done out there! Im ready for baking bread smells filling the rooms, for warm cuddly blankets, and slippers on our feet. I DO think I remember though....last year, branches being buried under the first snow....Phooey! Thats the first thing you see when the snow melts in the spring....Not to worry though....it all works itself out in the end....late ta

Say what?

Its been an unusual month for me.Some ups and some downs, but I find my way eventually. First of all, I will need surgery the third of November. Female issues I wont go into here. Hopefully just a small repair will do it...The running back and forth to the clinic is the poopy part. You know, test, tests, and more tests...The weather has been great for getting the yard work done. Theres still many leaves to be dealt with, but I wont obsess about them this year. Say what?
I made the mistake of taking an herbal sleep aid I found on Facebook, and it did me in. I spent three days in a funk to beat all funks. Finally, I figured out that it was the pills, and not my life doing me in.. We really must be careful what we ingest, without knowing what it can do to us.

Do you ever feel like your wasting your creative juices? Do you know theres something more for you to do with your life? Do you ever reach for something, but fear holds you back? How do you get brave enough to just go for it? To stop making excuses to not go for it? Ive pretty much been locked into the uncomplicated life I live, when I really want so much more....I find I get all excited about something, and then let it fall by the wayside..Time is going by so fast, and I really want to make it count...Late ta

A new beginning

Sometimes in a persons life, comes a detour. You cannot continue on the road ahead. You have to take a new direction, for your own sake. Its hard to change the way...But change it you must.
Loneliness is a hard thing to take. You feel the need to reach out and hold something dear. That something does not feel the same way as you, so you have to let it go...Out there somewhere is something to fulfill your needs. Open up your mind to that new place, and reach for it with a happy heart. You dont need your life full of young things, that dont have the need to be there. You dont need the attention of those that have their own needs and lives. Somewhere there is a challenge, a thing that excites your mind. and fills your soul. One life is probably all you get. Dont waste it hurting in your heart for things that will not be...Search for something that CAN be.. I begin my search today...Late ta

Winter Blues already?

It seems when it gets dark earlier and the weather gets colder...so does my soul. I get in a crappy mood and can't figure out the reason. Whats up with not wanting to go shopping with a friend, or out to lunch? Whats up with not caring if my undies lay on the bathroom floor longer then they should? Who cares if I forgot the reason I so badly wanted to lose 10 pounds, and keep that BP down? Who cares if those sweet birdies I love so much, are begging for food at my dining room window, because Im too lazy to go out and feed them? When did the couch get more inviting, and the refrigerator look like a fast food restaurant? Who cares if the grocery cart is starting to fill with cookies and cakes again, instead of vegetables and fruit? I CARE, THATS WHO! I refuse to let a funk get to me, and ruin all my good intentions...I will keep going in the right direction, and find a reason to be happy and jovial again...It could be all the rotten ads on tv that are getting to me, so OFF goes the set! Up on my feet and getting my arse in gear again. I refuse to be a sponge that absorbs all the negativity in the world! Lets all do our best to bring some light into the day. For ourselves and for the others in our lives....Late ta....

Packers loss and other missives

Oh Yah, we lost the bears game. We beat ourselves with penalty's that never should have been. Rookie mistakes that cost us the game. Rodgers worked hard to win only to be snuffed out at the end. That kind of thing cannot continue game after game. Nough said...
Mornings are very cool now, but the days warm as they progress. Lots of sun helps the temps to rise. The outside work needs to be done, and leaves will need to be raked and disposed of. I think the blower will come into play this year...My arms aren't what they once were..
Company coming this weekend and I look forward to seeing these loved ones. Theres one thats not so tall, that makes my heart sing. I get to play like a kid and not be embarrassed about it. He doesn't mind if I burst into song. He laughs at my corny jokes, and actually expects me to be silly. Maturity is not in the room when he's with me....
Sleep was a distant memory last night. My bed felt like a prison, and now I will need a nap today. Vicious cycle at times...I will get through it, and maybe, just maybe, tonite will be more restful, and sleep will come and make me whole again...If I jabber nonsense or walk into the wall, you all know what the reason is....Late ta

Woman and pain?

It seems to me that THEY could come up with a slightly less painful mammogram. A slightly less painful pap test, and think about us women for a change. Because we are the stronger sex, THEY think we can handle it all...Good Lord, its like were still in the dark ages....Pull, squeeze, stretch.....open wide, insert cold speculumm and Pinch for the smear....Ugly robes and peek a boo backsides...Do THEY think this is funny or something? Do THEY get off on creating such embarrassing situations, with pain to boot? Ok, from now on while I am being tortured for their immense pleasure....I am going to let them know every single bit of pain I go through. OUCH! OWWWWW! YIKES!....Stop it or Im going to slap your face! Maybe, just maybe, THEY will get the message and change things! Late ta....

Fall

First day of Fall today. The weather is good though, so I won't complain.
I will wait till all the leaves are down this year, before I start to rake. Then I may get my young helper over here. It makes life much easier when you have a helper. Irv does more too now that he has days off...Wahoo! Some folks don't care for fall or winter and wish it would stay summer all year. Well...I'm not one of those. I like the seasons, and a respite from the heat.
Fall is especially beautiful, with the leaves turning those wonderful bright colors, and the crisp clean air. You can mow for the last time this year, and not have to water anything...Then when it turns cold and snows come, you can read more, and snuggle with your honey without sweating. Yah, travel can get a bit hairy, and you tend to stay home more. Golfing stops, and you can't go swimming, but shucks folks, everything needs a rest. Recoup as they say. Yes, I like Fall, I like spring, and if it takes winter to bring one to the other, then so be it...Theres good in most things...Enjoy. Late ta

Sad day for us oldys

They have canceled As the World turns. A show I have been involved with for 50 yrs, and has run for 54....I knew all the old people that eventually died on the show, and in real life...The worst part is: I missed the very last day it was on...Oh I watched it on the internet but its not the same...Theres only two left that I am a fan of. Young and the Restless, and All my children. They will be the next to go.
Its a new age and people prefer game shows and reality garbage. I dont want someone else's reality. I have my own! Sometimes you want to escape in the world of drama and pretend...I would turn these soaps on while I worked around the house, or while I ate my lunch. They were a wonderful diversion from the days of our lives. I used to watch when I was young and restless and they made my world turn slower...I tried to interest all my children but they are of the new age and showed no interest. So there will now be less tv during my day, and less tears for those that struggled to make the soap interesting for me...Not all change is for the better...Late ta

Martha Stewart's new show? Seriously?

Okay, Ill admit I used to watch her old show. She fascinated me somewhat, but this one? OMG! You have to be kidding! Her attempts at humor are sad at best, and her move towards the stars is just silly. She doesn't have the personality for this kind of a show, and I see it failing very fast.
Lord, she wants us all to buy only the very best wine, the very best bacon from another country and slice our bread exactly......1/4 inch thick....Now this is for a ordinary BLT! Come on Martha! Where are we supposed to get the money for this stuff you so readily espouse? Your dishes all match and not a crack to be seen in any of them. Why, my dishes have a few cracks and a few stains. Its called living....Sue Larson living.....My glasses dont always sparkle to blind the eye. My floors have fuzzys and stuff occasionally,,,Once in awhile my laundry doesn't get done exactly like Martha would like, but it works for me....
I DID manage to clean out my closet yesterday, but the sweaters were not all in separate wrappers and the shoes lay on the floor in a heap....Martha would be so distressed to see this...LOL Yes, this makes me smile. I would like to see her face as she gazed around my house. To me I seem very organized, to her it would never DO....Naw Martha, your show is not for me. Not unless I need to throw a few things. I really do not need to feel like a lesser person, to satisfy some woman named Martha Stewart! Late ta...

September morning

Whew! Its cool this morning. A sure sign that fall is coming soon. As ready as I was to get out of those hot wet days of summer....am I really ready for fall? Its still very wet here, so one cannot work in the yard. Those cool breezes are wasted on whatever animals pass through. It should be much nicer golfing without the sweat pouring down your neck. Its real hard to see without windshield wipers on your glasses..
Were heading down to Delavan tomorrow for Irv's moms 85th birthday. Its so hard to believe shes that age. When I first met her, she was in her 30s....A vibrant, young woman full of life. Now shes just old and sick. So sad this is. Well, she still plays a mean game of Ucher though.
I find it hard to grasp the old age thing....Of course the alternative is not great either. Why can't we just get to fifty and stay there? I liked fifty.... after I got used to it. Your smarter, braver, sexier....After that it all sorta goes down hill...
I suggest you young folks enjoy every moment cause it sure dont last long...That easy stride I once had, is now a more careful step. The tight behind has settled a bit, and the breast no longer point to the heavans, but a direction just south of that. It takes a bit longer to get ready for a hot date....Oh shit, I'm married so there are no more hot dates...A hot date now is called a hot flash...Oh well, I have a good man that loves my aging body and laughs at my memory lapses. Ill just try to enjoy every moment I have left, and do whatever I can to play and stay a silly...Hell, serious is for old people! Late ta

September morning.....

Good morning all. I had a brief encounter with the little brave buck last night....He was quietly drinking water from a puddle in the yard. As he moved into the ditch, he discovered some kind of delicious greens that he could not ignore. He ate for a long time before he stood up in his full glory on the side of the road. This is when I was given an opportunity to take a picture of his glorious self. I tried to talk him into going into the woods, and getting away from this dangerous road but he just looked at me and went about his business. It was a rare pleasure to watch this wonderful animal in his element. Hard to think that come November, it may be his last time here on earth. While I realize, hunting gives some people pleasure and food on the table, I hate to think of his demise. He is a beautiful deer and should be allowed to live to his full glory...I can only hope....that he is wise and knows where to hide while the bullets fly....Ahh life....Late ta

Summers end

It looks like summer is almost over. We see an occasional cool day or crispy night. Some of the days are still very warm though, so summer still holds on...While I am very ready for cooler days and open Windows, I am not ready for what comes after. The dark short days of winter. Slippery roads and snow up to your ears...So I will try to enjoy whats left of the warmth and the cool of Autumn, one of my favorite seasons...Thank heavens golf can last until it snows, as I'm not ready to give that up.
Speaking of golf, I am getting better at the game. I still have some work to do on my fairway shots and my short game. Putting is a strong suit of mine though. When did I go from thinking it was a stupid, boring, tiny ball chasing, game for old folks, to being totally addicted to it? Nope, its not because I;m older. Lots of young people are involved in the game too. Its because its a learning process that takes you out in the open and gives you something fun to do. To meet many nice people with the same interest. Ill keep at it as long as I can, thats for sure.
Have a grand day.....Late ta!

fun with family

Shanna and Josh and Jack are up for the weekend. We had a picnic yesterday at Dexter ville Park. It was hot and a bit buggie, but all in all a good time. It ended up with three dogs there. Ryan's, deans and Shanna's. They played and got along famously. Deans pooka being the oldest, was the most sensible of them all, but she enjoyed herself too. Ryan's pup and shannas pup were the most frisky.
When the day was over we all headed to the ice cream stand and then home to play Sequence for a spell. Dean, roo and I were partners. We took all 5 games from Irv, christy and Shanna...Wahooooooo!
Shanna and her family will be going home later today. Its raining a bit so they may leave earlier then planned....Jack has been adorable, and Ive enjoyed him immensely. Hes such a good boy and so bright for 4 years old...
I will miss them very much, Late ta

Fridays joys

One more day to get stuff done before My granddaughter and her family come up from Illinois. Off to town for grocery supplies, then home to finish the mowing etc. Trying to plan a Sunday outing at the park with some of the family. Cookout, fishing, games. Too wet to have it here at the house. Our ground is saturated, so it just stays and stays....
My helper boy came yesterday and did all the weed-eating. It made a big difference in the appearance of the yard. The frown that had been on my face, turned into a smile. Wow! That felt good again. I'll go and wallow in the garden mud to see if the beans are ready to pick. Thats probably all i'll get from the garden this year. The bright side is...I won't have to can...The dark side is...I enjoy canning. Oh well, thats the way it is this year. Nothing I can do to change it...Mother Nature is sitting up there going..." I'm bored... I think I'll screw up some plans this summer." Maybe shes been having temper tantrums. Throwing trees around and crying a lot. What on earth could we have done to tick her off like this? hmmmmmmmmm. Late TA

Wet and wild!

We had another round of scary forecasts last night. Right around bedtime, the weathermen start scaring us with their Tornado and thunderstorm warnings. They show us the bad red line heading our way and threatening to blow us away. Sometimes it actually brings us bad weather and we sit and cringe until its over. Last night all we got was a wind driven rain, and some thunder and lightening. Not bad at all. Of course some people further north got hit again pretty bad. This July has been very volatile and I am over it. Come on Fall! Show your pretty head.
my granddaughter and her boy and hubby are coming this weekend...I cant wait to see them and hold that darling boy.
You all have a great day now and maybe just maybe it will dry enough to go outside and enjoy whats left of this crazy summer. Late Ta...

Morning

The sun is shining and its not supposed to rain today. Of course that is a good guess as we never know for sure...Two more days until we go up north for the weekend. We will stay in a nice cabin on a lake with a boat. This is thanks to our kids and grandkids. A gift for our fiftieth anniversary in Feb. There will also be 18 holes of golf for us to enjoy. The best part of it all is....some of them are joining us up there...Thats my favorite thing...spending fun time with the kids.
So the bills are all paid and I'll run to town to shop for groceries. I'm making desserts, so that should be fun...Im hoping we get in some fishing while were there. I haven't done that for a long time and always enjoyed it.. We need to get enough fish for a saturday fish fry...
I bought some ST Johns wart yesterday...Ive been feeling a bit crabby of late and am hoping it helps. These stomach problems I'm having are getting to me. Sure wish I knew what the problem is...Did I really spend all that time at the clinic? You would sure think Id know what my problem is. They run test after test only to shrug and send you on your way....Hundreds of dollars later, nothing has changed...Sheesh! I think this is the after 60 syndrome...Late ta

This and that

This summer has been a wild one. Too much rain, too much heat and volatile storms. Wow! this last one was a doozy! The winds blew some trees over and a tornado or two were spotted nearby. It cost us a bundle to have our mess cleaned up. Thank God no one was hurt. The heat is too much for us to enjoy being outdoors, only to battle the mosquitoes and deer flies. Im ready for fall and cooler days and nights. Less lawn care and crisp mornings...Yah Im over it....

Golfing

What is it about this game that makes one get obsessed with it? A few years ago, I was one of these people that thought it was foolish to hit a tiny ball around, and have to walk after it every time. That was before I tried it out. OMG! I love playing, even though I am not good at it. Even though some shots are all over the place, and it takes me too many strokes to get the ball in that tiny little hole...Of course then one has to buy new clubs, new colored balls and even golf clothes...Yes! There are certain clothes you should wear on the course. You need to be cool, and comfy, and look like a golfer. You take lessons online or off. You watch others and try hard to do what they do, but hardly ever succeed, other then to look silly...Then one magic day...everything falls into place and you hit good solid shots. You putt them in like a pro and it all becomes clear. You may never make money at it. It will always cost you a lot...Its hot out there for the most part and you WILL sweat. ......You LOVE it and ARE addicted forever!!!!Late ta

This and that

I woke up this morning feeling a bit more hopeful. I have been a bit off my feet, and that can take you down. Its funny how you can be rollin along at full speed and then, WHAM! illness hits you. All of a sudden you realize that you are not in control. That your body is taking over and making you sick. Visits to the clinic frighten you, changes have to be made. Its all very scary and makes you think about your life and how fragile it can be. Im better now and thankful for that. Life is so precious and we have to take care not to abuse it.

The complexity's of marriage...

I've come to the conclusion that staying happily married, is a lot of work. You cannot just roll along, doing whatever you please. You cannot ignore the other person's wants and needs. There has to be an understanding, and give and take. If you know something makes the other crazy.....stop doing it! If you know a small thing that really makes the other smile....DO it! Then there are the ISSUES. Some issues have to be let go. The small things that may annoy a little, but are not That important. Let them go! Like the cap on the toothpaste. Like socks on the floor. Let um go! Save your angst for the real things, like nasty remarks, cheating, and other intolerable behavior. Talk calmly about the little things, laugh at them and let them go. Loudly state that there is a no tolerance policy of the big ugly things and mean it. If you happen to find a decent partner...cherish that relationship. Make that person feel like they are important in your life. Notice when they are sad, or worried or scared. Build them up, dont tear them down. Give them room to be their real selves...If God forbid, you are with someone that hurts you, cheats on you, and will not stop, then ask yourself, Is this what you want for the rest of your life? Can you hold on until they decide to become a human being?

Mother Nature and PMS

I swear she had it last night. We were happily sleeping, when she decided to let off some steam. Lightening lit up the sky, and echoing thunder boomed soon after. Then rain poured down like she was bawling her eyes out. Little did she know, that while she was spewing her anger, we were enjoying every moment. We really needed the lightening to clear the junk out of the air. IE pollen etc...We needed the rain to soften the ground, and feed the thirsty plants we have growing in our gardens...While she ranted and raved, we thanked her for letting us have it....I love Mother Nature, with all her glorious mood swings, I love the soft days of spring when all is new and smells so sweet. That smell that makes a girl fall in love again..I love the heat of summer when you sit under a fan with a cold drink in your hand, and think about life...I love her fall with the crisp sunny days and falling leaves...When work had slowed and you have time to breathe...I even love her winter. The warm fire, Christmas, and baked goods smelling wonderful in your kitchen. Yes, she can be a bawdy gal, or a soft lovely lady, but shes never boring......Late ta...

Hello again

I haven't posted here for a bit. The reason is that I have been so busy...Being outside and working hard to make the yard look nice is a big job. I do have a young man to help once in awhile with the weed eating, but most of the work is done by myself. Irv does some mowing in the outer regions. Now, I'm having a man come and cut down a big annoying jack pine, and trim up some others. He will also grind out the stumps my dear hubby left behind when he took out some trees, This makes me very happy as my yard is an extension of who I am... I'm a nester and this stuff matters to me..We got a nice amount of rain on the gardens yesterday. Boy does that make the veges and flowers happy...They just surge up after a good rain. Hand watering just doesn't cut it. I think there are things in rain that we don't have in our ground water. I know, I know, that comes from the rain, but I believe it is filtered out....I have green beans and onions peeking their heads out of the soil..So far the tomatos and peppers look healthy too....I still have to plant turnips and stuff that Irv likes....
So off to town for some things I need and to donate some things I dont need....Lateta......

Snakes and I

We don't belong in the same Universe, snakes and I. I cannot abide them, especially huge ones like I saw yesterday laying in my lawn. They paralyze me, literally! An incident as a small child, has left me with this phobia, and while it has gotten better as I matured, it still is a handicap. Yesterdays snake was huge! 4 ft easy and right where I play and work everyday. NO! Not in the field close by, or hidden by wood piles or other things. No!!!! laying right in my full view. Its like he was saying na na na na na na....Alas, my dear manly husband disposed of this bad snake for me, and I am eternally grateful for that but......Where are the rest of them? When will another one or two or more venture into my playground to frighten the bejesus out of me? Why now after all these years when we are mowing the entire area, do they decide to show their forked tongues? They have a lot of fields to hunt in. They need to leave me alone! Maybe Ill buy a falcon!!!!Ya think?

Mothers day

Frankly speaking, I think every day should be mothers day. For those moms that put there heart in raising the kids, and love them more then themselves. Now This can include fathers too, IF they give themselves to the job of bringing up the young ones into adulthood. Its a total full time job, and can really give back, if done the right way. Human beings are complex and making sure they turn out okay, is not easy. I've seen, and shared the happiness, while watching them grow into mature adults. There may have been some bumps along the way, but for the most part, it is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. Heres to Moms all over the world, for a job well done. Now go fill that hole in your heart and house, when the kids leave home, with stuff all your own. They will be back....late ta

Whys and wherefors...

Why do they glue the toilet paper flap down? I sat for 5 minutes, trying to get it apart. The floor was being littered with tiny bits of paper, while I ripped and tore. I didnt want to be in there anymore. I had other things to do then sit and tear. My behind was getting numb, and my blood pressure was going up. By the time I got it apart, most of the roll was on the floor. Oh sure! Now I had another job to do. Thanks a lot!
Why do they put those paper flaps on fake flowers? You cant just put them in a vase...noooo, first you have to find and remove all those tiny paper strips. If you forget one, someone will eventually notice it and say...Oh, those are fake flowers...

Why is it that all containers now have senior proof caps? This stuff should get easier not harder as we age. You need one of those rubber things to help get the caps off. Its like they worry about us being childlike and opening something we shouldnt. Thanks a lot!
Why is it that while we are getting shorter all the time, they are putting the products up higher and higher? I refuse to use a reach helper! Id rather go without the item. See? they just missed a sale. Thanks alot!
Why is it that helpings of food get larger and larger, while we eat less and less? We dont all have dogs to take it home to. The garbage man must eat very well these days, if he has a notion to look. Thanks alot!
Why is it that by the time you retire, and have extra cash to do fun things with, your too damned tired to do them? Thanks alot! Late ta....

What the?

It seems that the more I practice, and the more I learn, the worse I get...Golf is not an easy sport but sheesh! My long game is ok but my short game is a disaster. If i could get in closer to the pin on my fairway shots, putting would be much easier...maybe...I did make par on one hole yesterday. Hit the green in one and in two putts, was in the hole..That felt real good..
The weather was great though, and we werent pushed, so the day was good all in all...I made the mistake of having two,[ count them, two] glasses of choc milk at dinner, and so of course couldnt sleep last night, until after midnight. I'm very sleepy this am and should have tried to sleep in. Oh well, maybe better tonight...I have to go to the store and mow later when it warms up abit...Did you notice? No humor in here? Yah, I'm tired...late ta

What a day.

Yesterday was a fabulous day...I managed to get the rhododendrum and bleeding heart planted. Did some mowing, and then went to Rivers edge for a round of golf. Eighteen holes of fun...I finally mastered a hole that I hadnt before. Hit the ball across water, to land on the green. Made a two stroke long put, into the hole. Yay...
I seem to be having a blood pressure issue for the last few days. Im not sure why all of a sudden, unless its got something to do with my allergys...Darn! I'll have to get that under control, soon.
Not sure what today will bring. Depends on the weather I guess. Its trying to rain, but not succeeding. A few drops have fallen, but thats it so far. The ground needs rain very badly.
Ive been off my program for a bit, but think I need to get back at it. Weight loss is slow going and I get so tired of worrying about what to eat, when to eat, and how much...Oh well, it is what it is...late ta

Its here

Yes, its time for the outside life to start. Actually, its already started. Mowing lawn, planting flowers and a vegetable garden. Hanging out laundry, and seeing it wave in the breeze. All of a sudden, I'm outside more then I'm in. The weather has been perfect for these endeavors. Now though, we need some rain. The rain gives something to this earth that all the hand watering in the world cannot give. Its like the difference in us drinking pop, or drinking cool clear water...Right now things are green, but without some much needed rain, it will soon go to a dying brown. Oh no, we can't have that. So we pray for a bit of rain to soak the earth, and renew it well. I love this time of year, and relish the hard work it takes to make everything beautiful after a long hard winter....Late ta

Old Guilts

I.m going to write this for you young moms that may need a bit of advice. Guilt is a nasty thing and can follow you for the rest of your life. While raising my kids, I made many mistakes. Because I married so young, and had kids so early in the marriage, I didnt get a chance to experience my teen years. I didnt get to go to dances and proms. When I got the chance, I went out with my hubby and we spent money that should have gone to the kids, for clothes, food, toys, school needs. Instead my kids went with out alot of the things they needed. I didnt see...I only knew that if I wanted to be with my Husband, the bars were the way to do that. Dont get me wrong, I loved my kids very much. I didnt realize how I was hurting them, until they got older. My life growing up with my parents was the same way. It was what I knew. You may ask why I am taking all the blame for this? Because I gave birth to them. I was the mom. I should have tried harder. I should have went without, to see that they had what they needed. They occasionally remind me of my errors and the pain is excruciating. The guilt is a burden I will carry to my grave. Those of you that are raising children, treasure them with all your heart. Protect them, and give them what the need. Hug them and listen to them and maybe someday...you wont feel the overwelming guilt for days gone by. You cant ever go back and repair it. Do it all now...Late ta

Sunshine on my face

The sun is coming up and as it rolls across the grass, it opens up my heart. Maybe today will be better. Anger is a hurtful thing, and I dont like to be angry. Though sometimes when you are nice, people take advantage of that. Sometimes they think that being nice, means you are weak. It should never be hard to make your words fall easy, on someones ears.
To make sure that your words are not hurtful or degrading. Love should be kind. I dont like feeling alone in this life, that I dont have a someone that has my back at all times. That appreciates the things I do, and laughs at the things I dont do. Right now, I feel alone...That I really dont have a someone that loves me without reservation. Come on sun.....Light up my day, light up my heart...

Wet and green,

As I look out the window, I see how green everything is getting. I also see many areas of puddles here and there. The birds love this weather, and even the squrrels. They chase and run like children would, in a moment of fun. Times like this, when I feel guilty for shooting at them with my pellet gun. Oh! Don't worry, I havent actually hit them. Just scared them off, until they get used to it. Then they just laugh at my efforts.
I got everything done yesterday except the frig. I ran out of time and energy. Theres only so much a person can do in one day. At least the dust is down for a few days. I'm really hoping these new herbal allergy pills are going to help me. I slept pretty good last night, after watching American Idol. It was actually pretty good. Even Tim was okay. Casey James moved me alot. For a change I wasnt crazy about Lees performance. The judges liked it tho, so who knows? I still think tonight, Tim should go home. Hes just not the best...
Laurie and Jeff are coming up this weekend. Were going to go to the schools Irish show...I hope its good...Late ta

Monday, rainy Monday.

Good morning...Its a rainy morning, but we were due, so its okay. I need a day to clean the house good. When its nice outside, who wants to be inside cleaning? I,m going green,[good for the earth products. Ill do laundry with only green products now. Who needs all those chemicals, on our skin, and added to the eco system? Hopefully, do my little part in saving the earth.
We golfed yesterday, and it wasnt good. My allergys are acting up, so I didnt feel the greatest. Hey! Its my excuse and I'm sticking to it...Also this is one of the harder courses. Longer holes, mostly 4 or 5 par. Maybe after being off all winter, we need to start on a smaller course. Get the feel again, as they say.
Irvs back to work today, so it will be a, enjoy my own company day. feed my birds, and just plain enjoy it all. Late ta

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter everyone. I hope your day is full of love and graditude. My cooking is done, and chores crossed off the list. Dean and Chris and Roo are back home from North Carolina, so they will be here later. Also Irv and Ann, nate and tyler and ryan. It should be a good day.
Im hoping to go golfing tomorrow. It will be cooler then Friday but thats fine with me. I need practice after being off all winter. It takes time to get back into the flow...
Im so gratefull to God for my life right now. For my family that I love so much. For new found friends to share time with. For my relationship with Irv, that has grown into a calm, easy, love. If it could only go on forever, but it cannot so Ill try to make the most of every moment...God Bless you all.

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Just whatever..

Good morning world. Theres much to do today to get ready for Easter. Family are coming, and the menu is not completed yet. Im baking a ham to have on hard rolls, potato salad, tuna salad, fresh vegetables and an angel food cake with strawberrys and whipped cream. I colored eggs yesterday and they actually turned out great. I have lost two more pounds so I will not over indulge tomorrow...
Dean and Chris are due home late this afternoon.YAY!!!!The animals will be so glad, and happy, and excited to a frenzy...A week is a long time to be without your loved ones..
Golf was fun yesterday until we got rained out on the 7th hole. My glasses do not have windshield wipers so it was a bit hard to see the ball, or the hole, or anything else...The we went to Charlies for supper and home to a movie. Nice day all round. we had rain yesterday so the ground is wet. Glad I got a lot of my outside yard work done. Ill run to the store this am, check on the pets and then home to finish up the preparations for tomorrow. Hopefully, a quiet night here at home....Late ta

Getting there?

Okay! I saw a result on the scale this am. Two more pounds gone. Now I want to know....where the heck do they go? Is there 2 lbs of fat floating around in the universe somewhere? Did I flush them down the toilet? Did they go down the shower drain? All I know is this program is working, albeit slowly. So I continue to do the right thing for me and eat fairly healthy and excersize as often as possible.
I want to go golfing today, and hope the winds dont get too strong to do that successfully. Windy march, Remember when that meant flying kites? Do they still do that? I havent seen anyone doing that. It would be a shame to have that pastime disappear. I remember doing that when Ryan was little. The kite got into the high winds and was pulled right out of my grasp. We ran after it for a spell but then, silently watched as it floated high above the trees, on its own journey to who knows where. Fun stuff.....Late ta

April fools day...

Id like to play a joke on someone, but everyone is busy.....My son is my favorite person to pull it on but hes at work..He used to pull them on me, but I never fell for it...Where did that tradition come from anyhew? Why do we pull tricks on April 1st?
I watched Idol last night and its getting so silly. If it werent for the contestants, I would probably stop watching. Their trying too hard to make it a viable show, but its not working. Its starting to take away from the singers and thats a shame...I DO have my favorite singers again this year, and some will go on to good careers, some will fade away.I hate to see the show go down because this is such an oppurtunity for these young kids...
I got the yard done yesterday, while enjoying the fabulous warm day. It will soon go back to normal, so we have to relish it.
Sunday is Easter and the family will come here for Ham, salads and colored eggs. There will be a huge basket of candy and eggs on the table for the adult grandkids...We no longer hide eggs...sniff sniff...The kids are too old for that...sniff sniff...
Today its more outside work and a trip to care for the pets again,,,Should be the last day before Dean and Chris come home...yay!!!!!!!! Lateta

Todays things

Today I will go over to my Daughters house and care for her pets while she is gone. I will do her laundry and clean her frig as I cannot just sit there.I will run the dog outside and let her know she is loved and that her family will return soon. I will clean the kitty litter and assure the cat that he is not alone. He will look at me like...Really? do I care? I will feel good about what I am doing, and have a good nights sleep tonight. I will pray for their safe return, and feel much better once they are home safe and sound. Late ta

Am I naive?

Sometimes I think I see the world through rose colored glasses...Or is it that I want to see the world in a softer light? Maybe I prefer the nicer side of life to the cruel realitys...When I allow myself to see whats really out there, I get depessed and sad. So much pain and suffering and cruelty in the news. One would think they could find a few wonderful things to write about. Things that give people hope and pleasure...Acts of kindness, and good deeds being done. I know they are out there, they just dont make the news as often as the bad stuff. I think it starts with me. I can do nice things for people. I can make someone smile. I can sing instead of cry, and continue to see the best side of life. At times I may have to be a part of the other side. I might have to give comfort or recieve it, but until that time I will be naive, and enjoy my life....Late ta

Its finally here!

Golf weather that is....Gonna be 70 on friday, perfect golfing weather...Ive been hitting a few balls here in the yard to warm up for it. I can,t wait! You know me...I have this new addiction. I worry about Irvs hand but hopefully he,ll still be able to golf for awhile more. I know hes gonna try.
We got a bit of rain last night. I see the deck is wet. With that and the warmer temps, the grass will green up and the buds will come out. Little green stems will poke thru the ground and bring happiness with them. Of course the yard work will start, but I even look forward to that. That works until about late July, then I start to look forward to fall again. Odd ducks us humans.
My granddaughter has been given the honor of principal dancer at her Ballet Academey. Shes worked long and hard for this and I,m very proud of her.
Today Ryans sposed to stop in when he goes to take care of the dog. I made him his favorite cookies. Yes, hes an adult but Ill never stop being his gramma...Late ta

In sickness and health

Believe it or not, these words do come to pass in a marriage. Sometimes.. one or the other, brings home a cold, or the flu, and generously gives it to their partner. First one is down, and then the other, and the moaning, and groaning, coming from both sides of the room, are not laughable. Well, at least not until one of you feels better then the other. Then maybe a snicker or two come rolling into the room...Theres no controlling it. It has a mind of it own...Anothers discomfort is really sometimes funny. Now why is it that the woman normally gets over it a bit faster then the man...Well, she has work to do around the house, and it doesnt wait for her to get OVER something...He can call in sick, but even if she works away from home, she still has to do the home stuff...So...she gets well as fast as she can, before things get really out of hand. He, I think, waits a bit longer, so she is well enough to bring him soup, and a blankie. Late ta...

Do we care about ourselves?

I sometimes wonder about that. We do so many things that are unproductive to our lives...Eat too much and eat bad food. Work too hard, and forget to see the beauty in the world. Let our health go until its a problem...Drink too much? OK some of these I no longer do, but some are still a problem. Some of us tend to hurry through life, so the roses are not noticed. In our hurry,we look back and see that we didnt notice the childs smile, or a hand reaching out to us...Where are we hurrying too? Whats the untimate outcome of our lives? Is it to win the race, or enjoy the journey? Is it to be the first one done, or the one with the most wonderful memories? Lets make memories folks. Lets make them last forever. We might get another go around, or we may not....Late ta

Illusive sleep, where for art thou?

I sure wish I knew why sleep is so illusive some nights? I know all the things that can keep sleep at bay, and avoid them. Caffiene, naps, ect. Its never about that. Like last night for example. I was so tired, but then my legs got itchy, and my body got restless. I felt like running around outside to ease the discomfort. Perhaps the neighbors would have called 911 if I HAD done that. Try to explain why you are outside in the nude, at 1am. Try to explain why you are running around like a mad woman, screaming, SLEEP, SLEEP!!!!Some nights I sleep like days of old. Dreams and everything. Oh How I long for those nights when sleep doesn't come. Maybe because our time on earth has a limit, we are not supposed to sleep as much. Maybe we ARE supposed to run around outside in the nude.[ Preferrably after dark] Late ta....

Say what?

This beautiful weather is gonna go away soon and its gonna get cold again. This is just a precursor to whats to come later in the spring. We get in a hurry to clean the yard, open windows, and take off our coats, then WHAM! OMG I'm freezing again. Maybe we would be better off not to go outside at all right now. Stay inside and wait for it to get cold again. Maybe that way we wouldnt get S.A.D. The real thing will come soon. The warm days that stay around, and you can put the winter clothes away. Well, the truth is Ive already got my yard cleanup started. Ive already imagined flowers blooming and watched the robins use my yard for their own Mac Donalds...At least when the cold comes back soon, Ill know its a fleeting thing....Late ta

Dreams

Do you ever have dreams that linger long after you wake? That sit just at the perifial of your memory, making it difficult to mull them over? Do you ever have dreams that are so strange you wonder of your sanity? I really think that they are bits and pieces of things that happen to you during the day. Things that have to be sorted out. Some to save to memory and some to delete. It would be nice if we could choose which things to put in our memory folder and which to toss out. I have many memories that I wish I had not had to keep. Then there are some good one that are no longer stored anywhere in my mind. I try to open them, but the folder is empty...Maybe theres a program I could install in my brain that allows me to choose...That would be so cool...Maybe this program just involves, really living in the happiest moments and pushing away the bad ones..Dreams are probably keeping us from over flow, so make sure you get the proper sleep folks. Sanity is a fragile thing....Late ta

Weight loss, is it real?

I have struggled off and on for a long time with my weight, and trying to lose a few pounds. Lets say 10,just 10. Thats like a big beef roast, or enough hamburger to feed 10 people....Not a lot you say? In order to lose this much, one has to be determined and brave, and ambitious. Okay, I think I am all of those, but just about the time I see a nice result, like say 2 pounds gone, I think oh yay I should reward myself. This starts me back on the path of destruction. One cookie.....one piece of cake....Five cookies AND a glass of milk! Yes, its all about sweets with me. I could do without real food easily...Well, not this time! I have lost that 2 pounds and my reward will NOT be food. I will go to a movie and NOT eat there expensive treats. I will drink water and just enjoy the movie with my dear grandaughter. I will continue on my road to recovery from my sweets addiction and be good to myself for a change....Okay, off to my 15 minute mile, good heath and fitting in all my clothes....Yay for me!!!!!!

I cannot stand it anymore!

Commercials that is. Can you believe how incredibly stupid some of them are? Take the talking manikins, or the talking shoes for instance. Then theres the mops that cry and feel abandoned...Whos writing these things? A five year old could do a better job. I can't see these people sitting around a boardroom table, coming up with these things, and actually getting paid to do so. It makes me crazy!!!! Now there are a few that are really cute. The baby on e-trade for one. Or the kids that are getting scammed by the big guy, but most are garbage! Then theres the food commercials! For those of us, that wonder why so many are overweight, just look to the tv. Every other ad is for some kind of gooey, juicy, fattening food thats not on our food plan...Chocolate swirling and whirling around in your vision, until you just Have to have some...Okay, so we could turn off the television, but then we would miss our favorite shows, and might have to do stuff that involves work. Sure would be nice though, if the couple hours a night I spend watching tv, it could be spent without those inane commercials every few minutes....Late ta

Self image

As women, some of us try to be everything to every one. A partner, a mother, a friend, a worker, but rarely are we our OWN friend. Some of us aren't very nice to ourselves. We go over and over old faults, and berate ourselves for past mistakes. We are constantly trying to do better, for everyone else. What about us? We look in the mirror and dont like who we see. As we age and gravity takes over, we try our darndest to cover things up. Heaven forbid, we look our age. When we put on a few pounds, we go to extremes to take it back off and when we don't succeed, we feel guilty about that also. Men rarely have these obsessive feelings about who they are. If our children make mistakes we blame ourselves for that too. Somewhere along this road we are on, we have to find a way to say...Im alright just the way I am. I like who I am and what I believe in. I am going to be my own best friend first, and as friends do...Overlook any little foibles and quirky personalities...When I look in the mirror, Ill see who is behind my eyes. The young, fun, not bad to look at gal. The one that loves without reservation, and deserves to like herself...just the way she is...Late ta

Why is it?

Why is it I dont really like to travel? I hate long drives, and will not fly unless Im in a wooden box, in the cargo hold...We are going to Illinois this weekend, and while I am excited to see My great grandson and the rest, I know Ill be glad to come home on tuesday. Set in my ways you say? Well, maybe thats true, but theres nothing better then my own bed, and just doing my own things. Surely theres something wrong with a person that likes to clean, and have chores to do. I always feel bad when I cant sleep in at other peoples houses. They do, so I have to be very quiet so I dont wake them. ME be quiet, thats like asking a Rooster not to crow! Then theres the sitting...Some people sit alot more then I do, and that can be hard on my body...Wah wah wah....Home is where my heart is, but I really need to venture out and about. I just wish I could go far away but be home in time to sleep in my own bed, and get up when I want...Im such a brat!!!!Late ta

Today

Today I,m gonna appreciate everything I get to do. Im gonna be thankful that I am healthy enough to do whatever I wish. Im gonna tell people in my life that I love them. If they need me, Ill be here. Im going to go out into the day, and see everything. Really see it all. I,m going to live in every moment, and not rush through. I have rushed through my life and sometimes have no memory of it. I am going to have memorys of the rest of it...I am going to try to close gaps that have opened in my relationships, and heal old wounds. Today I am going to try very hard to be all I can be. All that God intended me to be...

More ponders

I was looking out my bedroom window the other night. The night sky was full of stars and the moon was bright and heading toward the full stage. I thought about the universe and all its glory, and wondered what is out there. The it occured to me that WE are out there...We are not down here....we are out there...Someone from another planet would look at the Earth and see it surrounded by sky and stars and the night sky. I get smaller and smaller as I envision this truth. It makes my prayers seem to reach out farther and helps me to know this is all absolutely not an accident...It helps me appreciate life more, and all the things that surround me. The trees, the birds, the earth itself. makes me want to take even better care of this precarious position we are in...Late ta

Whatever

Another change in the weather. Its gotten colder again, and dustings of snow on the cars. While I realize we have to be patient, its wearing on the nerves. We long for warm breezes and sweater weather. Grass appearing, and dafodils blooming. I need to get out and do stuff. Im sick of housework and television.Oh well whatever....
Does anyone know, why a lot of todays young people dont date anymore? What happened to two people going out to eat, or a movie, or dancing? What happened to falling in love? It seems that now they date in groups. House parties with drinks and lots of people. How can you fall in love in a group? They date, break up, date breakup..OR....They live together right away, before they even know themselves, let alone someone else, .... I cant believe there should be pregnancys nowadays, unless its on purpose...Ok so Im older and have some traditional ideas, but I think they are missing out. Those wonderful feelings when you first sit alone with a young man, and listen to your favorite songs. That first kiss, and knowing you want to be with this guy again, and again. How can they feel that, if they are always in a group? OH well Whatever....
Why do some girls prefer the bad boys, while the good guys are left behind? Dont they know the bad guys will leave them high and dry, while the good guys are there for them always? Oh well Whatever...
Enough of my pondering for today. Maybe Ill have another thought or two tomorrow. Late ta...

AMAZING SURPRISE ANNIVERSARY..

My children are the most amazing people in the world..In stead of the dinner planned, with just a few, these kids planned for months, a party to end all parties. They all dressed up in period costumes. 60s, 70s, and 80s. They dressed Irv and I in 50s regalia. Pink Poodle skirt,[ hand made by my daughter christy] Pink blouse and neckscarf, huge blonde wig with a bow in front...Think Olivia newton in Grease. Not the image, but the clothes. LOL. I was not skinny to say the least. Irv was put in a black leather jacket and a black ducktail wig...There was a dj, food, cake and tons of fun...All my kids were there, and most of the grandkids and great grandson....Then to top it all off a gift of a July weekend up north at a private cabin on a lake and a boat...!18 holes of golf at a course nearby...Some of the family may try to join us with their campers. This has to be one of the happiest moments in my life. Especially to know that we are so important to all of them. God Bless them all....

Golden

Tomorrow is our 50th golden anniversary.WOW! Who know we would make it this far. Thats a lifetime of love, happiness, fear, anger, joy, children, grandchildren, great grandchild. Christmases, birthdays, deaths, and marriages. A lifetime of growing closer and closer. To knowing that this is the blood that runs in your viens. That this is your soul...I wish that young people could know that it takes a lifetime to nurture a marriage. Its a long journey to understand another human being and love them with or without faults. Some things cant be overlooked, and the marriage must end, but If it is worthwhile, If it is something that can last with a bit of work, then your lives can be so enriched by it. You can finally get to a place that you always wanted to be...A lasting love and friendship thats endures everything.

Did you notice?

Did you notice that temps are starting to warm?
We could see almost 40 today, which means melting snow and getting the car washed. Poor car is full of salt from the trucks whooshing by, and throwing it into the air. I wish I didnt have to drive her in the winter months but I do not have that luxury. My name is Not in People magazine. I am NOT rich and famous....
Sat at the hospital yesterday with My son, while Daughter in law had her surgery. We played cards to pass the time. Her surgery went well and she is back home now to recover...
I bought a couple more things for great grandsons birthday. Im looking forward to going down to Illinois to see him and everyone else. Hes such a delight to be around. Smart, funny, and very loving for a four year old...I sure miss having a baby around...
Tired yet this morning, so off to get another cup of coffee. Have a great day all...Late ta

Ive been thinkin

Why is it that people from the southern states, have a southern accent? When did this start? Why do people from wisconsin talk faster then other states?
Now I can understand, [ sort of] why folks from other countries have their own language. But the difference in people's accents from different states, has me baffeled. Take the word help for instance. It can be Help, or halp, or hep...Depending on where you live...Comeon somebody, enlighten me on this conundrum.....

Valentines Day

So the table is full of cards, and chocolates, and a beautiful Red Velvet cake, all designed to make you feel like its okay to overindulge. After the day is over, you are still left with a few chocolates, and two slices of cake, and the guilt!!!! Dont step on a scale for a few days. Dont try to get into those new size jeans right away....Get back to your excercises and positive thoughts...Take time to rethink your prioritys before you even think about the few pounds you gained on Valentines day.....It sure was a great day...late ta...

Morning

I love quiet mornings. The time before anyone else is around to break the silence. Even the birds are still and traffic is not moving yet. Only me and my thoughts and this Blog. The dining room smells like fresh baked cookies. The reason for that, could be, that I wanted to give something to my family for Valentines day. I love to bake, so the result was containers of cookies for all. Sunday for hubby will be, Roast duck and a black forest heart cake...
The sun will shine again today, and that makes me happy. Cloudy days muddle up my Karma. Odd that. Its like your energy field needs sunshine to be in full force. I cant wait to be able to stroll around the yard, with green grass under my feet and the smells of spring everywhere. When your skin can come out from under all those layers of clothes and breathe again. When Vitamin D from the sun renews your blood with energy. When you can close your eyes and listen to all the sounds in the air. Birds singing their spring lullabys and mating songs. For now though, Ill have to try to love the cold days and snowy roads and crisp air. Yes, even winter has its beauty, with hoar frost on the trees and windows. Glistening like diamonds everywhere. Life and all its wonders. Neat huh?

Anniversarys

Our 50th is coming up real soon and it makes me ponder...All those years put into loving someone and having children with this someone. Happy days and sad days. Money worries and abundance. Then the children leave the nest and the two of you are alone once again. Full circle so to speak. Are you still in love after all those years or just used to each other?
For me its still about love. Enjoying the presense even in the quiet moments. Knowing that you can trust this person with your darkest secrets. Knowing that they will care for you if you fall ill. Holding that warm solid hand and feeling the power of that. Waking up from a nightmare and snuggling up to that warm strong body. The feeling of love and secuity in this 50 year marriage make it all worthwhile. Yes, its all about love....

Forgiveness

Is there someone in your life that you have not forgiven? This could be for slights real or imagined. This could be for things done in anger and rage. Whatever the reasons you hold on to the hate or the hurt, it hurts you more then them. God forgives us every day for things we do that are wrong. He doesnt hold grudges and turn away from us. We are all capable of hurting others in our words or deeds. Perhaps we dont mean to do so, but that still leaves its mark on ones soul. If we can find a way to forgive others, or forgive ourselves, life will be much kinder. It will release us from its hold and set us free. We are all human. We all make mistakes. We all must be forgiving...

New month, new attitude?

Good morning world,
Its February and hopefully that means the temps will warm up a bit. Perhaps some evidence of spring will start to show...Right now its snowing so maybe we have to wait until the groundhog looks for his shadow. Then comes March. Remember when March meant flying kites? When spring breezes blew on your face and gave you spring fever? That wonderful feeling of excitment at things to come. That smell in the air that made you feel young and fanciful? Oh I love those days. It gives you hope that all things renew. That all things have another chance to show their beauty and breathe....Even you and I....Late ta

Politics rage on.

I watched the state of the union the other night. President Obama made mention a few times of the discord that goes on between parties. That makes it difficult to get things done....I dont know how anything ever gets accomplished with the parties being so far apart in ideas, and aims for the future. Its pretty much the same in the lay world. Different parties and different views. Things can heat up pretty fast when politics gets discussed...I dont get it. We all want pretty much the same thing. Peace, equality, and prosperity. I guess were just on opposites on how to get there. In the mean time, In the whitehouse, not much gets done and we get deeper in debt and less able to get out. I just wish as human beings we could all find a way to come together without strife, and find a way to make our lives better in the long run. Make life better for our grandkids and those that come after us.... sad state of affairs this....Late ta...

Is Tv dangerous?

Well, I truly believe the commercials about food are. You sit on your butt watching a show, and then the ads for food start. Chocolate running down a cake, gooey and wonderful. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers, french fries and soda. Pizzas dripping with melted cheese and pepperoni. Roast beef and thick gravy. All you can eat pancakes and syrup....Holy cow people! How can you resist going into the kitchen or calling for takeout? No wonder we are an overweight society. Every few minutes one is bombarded with these commercials....If these were about smoking,[ the death recipe] people would scream in disgust. Those are no longer allowed on the tube.....Obesity causes many health issues and even death, but yet these commercials are allowed to sink into the brain and cause hunger...They could at least limit them to one commercial an episode. I could handle that! I sure hope those ads for sexual enhancements, dont have people running into the bedroom every five minutes. Oh well,,,,,,,maybe that wouldnt be so bad after all. Sure would help keep them out of the kitchen....

Opps!

I sometimes make the mistake of expecting certain things from the people in my life. When that doesnt happen, I hurt in my heart. I really need to learn not to expect anything, just let it ride....I hate being the older, and feeling like I,m on the outside looking in...Do the youngers really think they know so much more? That there way, is the right way? I dont remember feeling this way about my mother or father. They were the ones that KNEW...I was the one that was learning....I looked to them for guidance until they passed away....I guess its because the youngers lives are so much different then mine. The old ways have passed into the deep dark hole,  and no one wants them back...Perhaps, what they think, is too important to me...Perhaps, I put too much emphasis on what they think of me. Perhaps its time to start liking myself, and what I feel about things. Perhaps I should step out of the corner and and have my own life to live...Perhaps......

Another Monday to use up.

Yes, I literally use up the day. Cleaning, working outside, phone calls, and being here with you. Most of the time I enjoy this ritual, but occasionally I have to get in the car and go somewhere. Leave the house to fend for itself, and drive away. It may be just a trip to town for supplies, or a day spent with a friend,  having lunch, and shopping. Whatever it is, its different...It makes me whole again and ready to tackle another day at home.
For starters, I love my home. I am what some people call a homebody. Does that mean my body is in the home? Or my body looks like a house? Well, what ever it means, I will claim it. I take pride in making it a place that people like to come to. A place where you can nap on the couch, and raid the refrigerator when ever you please....Im grateful that life decided to finally be kind to me, and That I have this place, and my family, to fill up my day with...

Decorating 1

I made the mistake of watching the tv show about decorating to sell your house...They do this on a limited budget, and it really improves things. Instantly, I got the bug! The bug to put up new curtains.  .Off I went to a department store to find new drapes. Things were on sale, so that made me extremely happy. In my buzz of happiness, I found sheer panals and the drape for the top...Home I went to put them up. Then of course, my wall pictures didnt look right so I had to change those also. Now I see I could use a new floor lamp,  and who knows what else? Maybe I shouldnt have watched that show. Maybe I was fine the way it was but...... It sure was fun, and the room sure looks nice. After all, it didnt cost all that much. I am happy with the changes.....Is that wrong? Now.... what time is that show on again?    Late ta

Sad times but....

Things are really bad out there in the world. Disasters, Trauma, people determined to hurt us. In all the turbulance, its hard to find something to be proud of, or happy about. Take heart folks. There really is something. Ten million dollars was raised via text messaging, for Haiti. People are anxious and trying to find a way to contribute and to be of help. When in our daily lives, we can sometimes be selfish, and self involved, Its times like this, when we show our trues colors. Red, white, and Blue....Im proud of being a member of the human race at times like this...Late ta

Understanding

I have found that understanding is a misused word. It contains such important conitations. Do we really understand those we love? Really? Watching my daughters go through their adult lives, I find that I do not understand how they feel about things. I raised them, but they are different from me. Their views are from the new age, not the old. Some things that are very important to me, do not fit in their lives. Do they understand who I am? Not really. We dont see eye to eye and perhaps they even think I am too old now to GET it. If they only knew that inside, in my soul, I am the same age as them. That I still enjoy many of the same things that they do, just at a slower pace. Do I understand my son? Funny thing that. He is so much like me, that I do understand him. Why the boy would be like me, and not the girls, is still a mystery to me.
Husbands, whew! Not that is the biggest hurdle. To understand a mans mind, is to really have the gift of understanding. I understand that he doesnt like small talk, unless its with another male. He doesnt like to shop unless its in the tool department of the hardware store. I understand that kissing and hugging is to lead to something else, and hand holding is not gonna happen in this lifetime. That most of the I love you's, come in a card on my Birthday or anniversary,s. I understand that the things he does around the house, fixing, repairing, and just general maintenance, are to show me how much he cares about me. I understand that his quiet times are just feelings of contentment, and that when he says hes not thinking, he really isnt. Understanding.......Its such a loving thing to do......Late ta...

Soap operas?

Does anyone but me still watch these things? I realize that they are on their way out. After years of watching some of my favorites, I am finally seeing them for what they are....Example: A gal loses the love of her life. Shes devastated! Then in a weeks time, she is going off with an old love. Forgetting all about the so called love of her life.....Example: A young girl is taken to the hospital. Nothing much wrong at all, but just as they are releasing her, they discover a bruise on her arm. OMG! A young girl with a bruise.Well now, you and I both know that this means luekemia or some such thing.. It cannot be just a bruise....Example: Everyone in the town the  soap takes place in, has slept with everyone else in the town.  That or has married everyone in the town..I guess for a long time I was okay with the lack of reality. I didnt want them to live like I did. But now that they are on the edge of obsurity, I can see how really silly they are...Okay, maybe I'm just mad that they took my favorite soap of all time....off the air already!!!!!        Late ta

Out and about

I went out shopping with a friend yesterday. We hit Kolhs, and as much as I love that store, I kept myself frugal...There have been times when I spent way over my budget there. A sale here, and a sale there, can suck you right in...Before you know what hit you, a couple hundred dollars has left your wallet...Then....you get home and try to find room in your already stuff dresser and closet....Makes no sense whatsoever.... The other day I pulled a top out of my closet only to discover the tags were still on it...What the? Evidently.. I really did not need that top. Now I realize that shopping like this is a fairly new thing for me, but, there is a limit. The new things get lost in the forest of clothes, and you don't even remember you bought them. This is just foolish and wasteful sooo, no more I say! Besides....if I lose this ten pounds of flab I have added to my body, These clothes will no longer fit. Then what? Some lucky soul at Good will will reap the benetfits of my errors.  Maybe I shouldnt try to lose after all. Maybe I should keep the size 10s and 12s and eat what I like....What a conundrum!    Late ta!!!!!

Another year to ponder

Ponder is the right word. We ponder why the Packers lost that last game, and why it isnt US on our way to the rest of the playoffs. We ponder if this is REALLY Simon Cowels last year judging the American Idol. We ponder the resolutions we might have made for the new year, and if we can keep any of them this time. Pondering is good for a person. It makes you think. It makes you take mistakes you,ve made, and turn them into pluses.
Now I have a tendency to ponder a bit too much sometimes. That in turn, makes me worry about things I have no control over. This year will be different! I will only ponder if I have nothing else to do. Right now I am pondering if this post will be long enough. Late ta...

After the Fall

The game is over. My Bloodpressure is back down. The tears are dry...I will wait in anticipation for next year and the Packers playing well, and getting back in the playoffs... with much better results.  Our weather is warming up a bit, and it is almost 5.30 before it gets dark. In these dark and snowy days, I try to think of the promise of spring. All the new beginnings and the fresh smells of the gardens. Well, unless you garden with manure.....Hey! I even like that smell...Theres always something to look forward to... if you try. Just waking up every morning is a plus when you reach a mature age.... When you look out at the snow that is no longer white, but riddled with dirt, and twigs, and animal deposits, its hard to find beauty, but it can be done. There is a baby rabbit, looking for a bit of leftover birdseed., Up in the tree, see?  There is a grey squrrel cracking open an acorn he found. One, the rest of the squrrels didnt put away for harder times. Even the ice cycles hangin down from the gutters, are beautiful. Their  drip drip, a steady rythmn in your ears.  Yes, even winter can be a good thing... when you know that behind it, comes spring, and the glory of new life everywhere. Everything renews, year after year....We should also.....  Late ta

Winter

Im tired of it already. The days arent long enough, and the nights go on forever...Sleep is illusive at times, and I wonder if I will be cranky today. The sun is my friend, and I need to feel its warmth on my skin. Winter makes me feel older, and summer puts a spring in my step. As I sit here at 6.30 in the dark morning, knowing that when I do go outside, it will be cold. My car will groan with irritation at having to start up. I would like to find something good about these cold months of winter, but alas its hard to do. Christmas was nice, with the family around, but was over in a flash. The elecric bill has risen at an alarming rate, and I can hear the gas bill go up every time the furnace clicks on. That NEW costly one we had to put in.
Okay so this is a rant...Im allowed. It will all change this week, when the temps get up in the 30s and I can breathe again....I will go out and enjoy it while it lasts, and think about spring and gardens and golfing. I will thank God for my life, cold or warm, and laugh and cry and enjoy being me. Late ta....
