In the frosty tundra

Yah, yah, I know...its winter what do I expect? A warm up this friday will be a nice gift. We might get into the 30s!!!!!!!!
I went to town with Dean and chris yesterday. Got a few more gifts for a unexpected family member coming up. Bought the stuff for the two birthdays we will celebrate over the holidays. Can we mix happy birthday in with jungle bells? Happy birthday, jingle bells, have a happy day....Hope it is a good one...Merry all the way.... Today I'll excersise, clean house good, and try to find a yummy recipe for supper. I HATE suppers! I'd like to eliminate them altogether. Give me some fruit and veges and I'd be happy.
I bought a tiny red bench to use when I have to clean low cubboards. I cannot kneel anymore. Well, I can kneel, I just can't get up from a kneel. Anyhew, this bench will be there for me to sit on. Now I KNOW little jack will love this bench. Its just his size and a bright red. Thats ok as long as he doesnt ask to take it home....I can't refuse him anything... Okay, I had better get this party started...You all have a good one now. Late ta....

Ok! Enoughs enough!!!!!

I for one am tired of winter....especially THIS winter! Holy cow! Not only does it snow almost every day but the temps are ridiculous! You,d think we lived in Alaska. Chances are the weather is better up there!!!!! I am NOT a snow bunny! I am NOT a eskimo! Enough already!!!!!!
Christmas is only 3 days away and I need to get my spirits back up.....I sure hope the weather at least is good for the Kids drive up here on sat. from Illinois.... Sounds like it at least is going to warm up a bit then...Maybe January will be a kinder month....
The menus are planned for Thursday[ xmas] and saturday, [xmas get together]. Hot beefs on thurs. and Lasagna on sat....I am excited about seeing everyone. You all have a great day now

Late Ta.....

Tuesday, I think!

Its snowing again!!!!! Cold and nasty out. Roo has her concert tomorrow and Im dertermined to be there so I hope this snow doesnt present a problem on the roads. Irv took the day off today. I think he is really getting ready to retire. He hates the cold and bad roads. Hes down in his shop doing only men know what.....I made bread and cranberry cookies and a pizza crust. The kitchen smells wonderful. Im having a hard time getting those expensive airbeds I've bought over time, to stay blown up. The air gradually just goes away and the poor people will end up on the floor. Man oh man, I bought two queen size at good prices and neither one stays up. BLAH!!!!!!I guess Ill have to invest again......Now someone tell me what the heck to do with two big rubber air mattresses? Is there a use for them somehow? No? OK then out to the garbage they go. What a shame!!!!! Oh hey! I found a wonderful website for those that like old fashioned things. Its called Kruenpeeper creek. I just love the stuff. I ordered some of it and cant wait till it gets here...No... its not for me, but I will after the holidays, you can bet.
Christmas is right around the corner and then begins a new year again. Time sure does fly when your in an airplane......yuk....Late ta

Batten down the hatches and bring out the electric blankets...This has been the nastiest december ever...Im hoping january is a better month..
Christmas is right around the corner so Id better get my plans finalized. There will be 20 people here for dinner , games and gifts, the saturday after...Should be fun and noisy and hopefully the weather will cooperate for those that have to travel. Irvs stocking on the wall is full to overflowing and mine is beginning to bulge....I always get a kick out of how he sneaks stuff in there. I really have to start excersizing tomorrow morning. NO more putting it off, and hoping my body will magically return to a size 8. Not gonna happen without working out. We bowled yesterday, but after a great start,, I went steadily down hill. My fingers have exema on the, and get progressivly worse as I bowl. Damn damn!!!!!!Got out the vicks to see how that works.... Maybeeeeeeeeeeee. You,d be surprised at how many things vicks is good for...Amazing stuff. Have a good one now.... late ta....

winter wonderland

Yah, we got about 3 or 4 inches and its rather pretty. I put my car in Irv's shop yesterday so at least I wont have to clean that off. Goofy me, I thought it was recycling day and hauled it all out to the end of the driveway. When they didnt come, I realized that no, it wasnt till next wed. Phooey! I had to haul it all back in.... Good excersise.....
This is the 5th day on my no sweets eating plan. I'm doing good. I even baked roo some smores cookies, as she will be here on the bus after school. I did'nt touch a one.....Yay for me....Ill send the rest home with her tonite. Let them get fat. Thats the last of it though. Im not buying anymore until xmas. Hopefully by then, I will be able to control my indulgence...
The sun is shining and that always makes me happy, Id like to go to town tomorrow as Ive been in since last sunday......Oh MY GOD!!!!!!!4 days!!!!!!! Ill go insane!!!!!!
Ive decorated a wee bit for xmas..... mostly inside....Hope to get a tree up this weekend....Then I can get all the gifts under the tree and out of the storeroom.... OK back to my puzzle. I wanted to wait so Irv could help some more, but I cant resist it.....Late ta...

Its snowing!!!!!

This is the first real snow we've had this year. I'm cozied in, so I really don't mind it at all. The ground is white, and making me feel Christmasy....Is that a word? Christmasy? Nate got a 8 point buck and brought it over to show it off. I of course, took his picture with it. He liked that very much.....The season ends today at dusk, and other than Irv going back to work tomorrow, Im glad its over. I will miss Irv though....
Ok soooooooo, Him and I are throwing out the sweets and going to try to lay off of them once again. I think when a few days have gone by the cravings will go away....At least thats what Im hoping, Sorta like quitting smoking. Its been 4 years now for me. Now, if I can get this sweet habit taken care of, and eventually, just eat them occasionally.....like normal folks, then I will be a happy camper.... I DO not want to be an old fat lady!!!!! What do you mean, too late???????? It not over till the slender lady sings.. Ya all have a great day now...Late ta...

Thanksgiving

Well its almost here and the preparations begin. I shopped for the goodys yesterday, a whopping 200 and some bucks. The baking items are costly, and hopefully will get me through Christmas too. We bought a 20 pound turkey and a half ham. Believe it or not, some people dont care for turkey all that much! Im making two pumpkin pies and one apple cranberry. Some chewy bars and cookies. It sounds like every family member from up here, will come. Thank God I bought this large table! I wish I had a dishwasher, besides myself. The dishes are the worst part of the meal. Some of the kids usually take on that job though..... Then will come our big family Christmas. More food and more dishes. More fun though, there will be gifts to open and games to play. Lots of happiness all the way around. Today Ill start doing my lists so everything is all planned out. I dont care for surprises..... I hope your Thanksgiving is full of love and good food......and someone ELSE does your dishes!!!!! Late Ta.....

Hello????

Remember in my last post, I said I just liked having Irv here at home? Well............maybe that was a bit optomistic on my part.... Today after working all morning cleaning and baking...I felt the need for a quick power nap on my comfy couch. I do this on occasion if I havent slept good the night before... Well.......Irv was watching tv, a dundee movie and at times it got very loud.... When hes not here, I turn the tv way down for my nap. So I got back up and went back to my chores....Then again sleepy so I tried it again...No dice, just too darned loud....sooooooooo I decided to go into the bedroom for my nap. I no sooner lay down when I heard him turn off the tv and go outside.....Something about this does'nt sit right....Oh well, I fell asleep and had a nice nap after all. Maybe, just maybe, we will figure this all out when he retires. Or Ill have to learn to sleep better at night.....Wheres my nytol????????

Excuse me, may I interrupt your day?

I'm sitting here making lists and wondering when I started doing that? I never used to make lists. I didnt feel the need to see my chores on paper like orders from above...Here they are, all lined up, arranged in order of importance. Seems like the list gets longer every day. What happened to just doing whatever I felt like? Going haphazzardly from one thing to another? Ill tell you what....nothing ever got done! Laurie and Jeff and Jack will be here friday and that means a clean spare room. Sheets washed and pillows fluffed. The frig cleaned of all that green fuzzy stuff that no one seems to recognize.... Food shopped for and meals planned. Then Shanna and josh will arrive at christys house around 11 that same night. The girl commutes to work in Chicago and gets home late... Chris has opted to have the big meal and gathering on sat.. so I can go over and just play with my precious great grandson Jack.
He said he wants to come up here and hug and kiss nana, [me] Hes 2 and a half....

Deer season starts sat. also. The guys [ irv and Irvie] will go out before dawn and sit all day waiting for that elusive big buck to be stupid enough to walk by. Oh its been known to happen, so maybe one of them will get lucky....or maybe again THIS year, the bucks will get lucky. I just kinda like having Irv home all week.....Ok, back to my lists. then maybe Ill start a chore eventually.. Thanks for letting me bend your ear for a few....Late Ta.....

Old? Or just a dolt?

You decide.....I was walking through the living room, one eye on the floor and one eye on the tv screen. All of a sudden... my foot mysteriously caught on the coffee table leg, and I felt myself falling. I KNEW I was falling into the heavy table, and THAT scared the hell out of me, so I turned my body and THEN......proceeded to hurl forward at an amazing speed for an older broad. While trying desparately to stop the fall and forward momentum, I must have looked liked a flailing cow.. Thank God, no one was behind me with a camera. I fell with a thud on my knees and lay there in extreme pain. When after a seemingly long time...I was able to limp out to the kitchen for ice moaning and groaning all the way....you know us Beaumonts......
Now your probably wondering , Where the hell is Irv during all this? He HAD called out to me while I lay writhing on the floor. He had gone to bed earlier. He asked if I needed help.... EXCUSE ME? HELP? I needed a hand up and a hug!!!! He did fnally get up and came out to ask again, but by then I was on the couch, and madder then hell... I said NO!!!!! GO AWAY! hahahahaha...big baby that I am....Come to find out, he never heard the fall at all. He,d been asleep at the wheel. He only heard my moans and groans and thought I had a leg cramp....I DO get those, and DO make noise....Oh well, all is forgivin and my knee is black and blue but not painful anymore, so guess Ill survive it all. Funny thing tho, I went to the store yesterday, and on the window was a sign that read...Are you afraid of falling? Classes at the firehouse, blah blah blah.......Yikes!!!!

Me bad...

While I've been away from here, its gone from summer to winter. Two weeks ago I was golfing in a short sleeved shirt. Today it is cold, windy, and spitting freezing sleet. Yuk! I took some time off to organize my life a bit. Did it work? Naw.....I'm still in a tizzy most of the time, but.......Obama won the election, we had lauries 47 th Birthday here at the house...Fun fun...Now its time to get ready for Thanksgiving and deer season. Irv gets the whole week off so thats kinda nice...Im reading a wonderful novel right now about an Amish family. The author has the ability to take me into the story so that I am right there with the characters...Now THATS a good author..Irv is due home soon and I'll be very glad as the roads might be getting slippery. Live in your moments folks Late ta....

Tuesday

I'm heading off to town this am to get a Heppa vacumn and a hypoallergenic pillow...Yah, Im allergic to dust and need serious help wth the coughing, sneezing, runny nose....This could be a semi costly venture, but worth it if it actually helps...Boy, you folks that are still in the youthful group, ENJOY it....Age has a way of making life less then wonderful at times....I,m still healthier then some though at my age, so I,ll try not to complain too much...Ive wanted one of those new fangled vacs anyhew...No more cheapys for me...The sun is out and tho it may be cold out, It looks inviting out there.... You all have a great day and LIVE it!!!! Late ta!!!

Stolen words but true anyhew...

I've seen two shows lately that went on and on about how mid-life is a great time for women. Just last week Oprah had a whole show on how great menopause will be . . . Puhleeeeeeeze! I've had a few thoughts of my own and would like to share them with you. Whether you are pushing 40, 50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck), you'll probably relate. Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired mustache. In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wing spans. We are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in drag. Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see your rear without turning around.
Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless. Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream, 'Listen, honey, even the Roman empire fell, and those will too.'
Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves, and we're sitting on our biggest ones. Mid-life is when you look at your know-it-all teenager and think, 'For this I have stretch marks?' In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain is water. Mid-life means that your Body By Jake now includes Legs By Rand McNally--more red and blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Wisconsin. Mid-life means that you become more reflective. You start pondering the 'big' questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy Choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice? But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important. We realize that breasts sag, hips expand, and chins double, but our loved ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the knowledge that you have now, for the body you had way back when? Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've acquired. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!

Wind and leaves do not mix

Or so I found out today! Tons of leaves raked and piled to be hauled off somewhere at the edge of our 5 acres....Ok so I start on a pile....Put the plastic rake thingy into the pile and bring it up to go in the trailor........Whoosh!!!! Along comes a blast of wind and the leaves become part of the pile again. Ok Ill wait till it dies down, NOW! AS soon as the rake is in the air WHOOSH! This is not funny!!!!!! I swear to you .... no lie here......It took me 5 hours to get the leaves into the trailor and get them hauled away. Actually theres still a small pile or two out there. Im hoping Irv will come home, and feel sorry for my plight, and haul them away...I have nothing left to give to those piles....Nothing.....To bad the wind isnt strong enough to blow them into the next county, but nooooooooooo, cant do that..... I have to admit though...It sure feels good to have them gone.....when there gone....Till next year....Am I nuts???????

Wednesday,

I'm a bit late posting, but here I am....Its a cloudy, windy day, so I stayed in to clean the house and do laundry today. Tomorow the suns sposed to shine, so Ill do leaves then. Well......unless something else comes up to prevent me from that glorious chore... Actually. the truth be known, I DO enjoy a bit of raking. Its just the hauling away that gets to me...Blah!!!!

Marissa is coming soon on the bus. Its my one day with her now, and I sure look forward to it. Ive got a canister of cotton candy on the table waiting for her. Yah, yah, I know. Its not the best choice but its one day........remember???? I was sadly disappointed last night. Toni Braxton got kicked off Dancing with the stars and they kept Cloris leachman who by the way cannot dance, and Susan Luci who is not near as good as Toni...Oh well, I didnt vote so what can I say? Its a shame though.... Ok Roo is due so Ill get off here....Have a great evening....Late Ta....
