TGIF

Yah....Friday....That means golfing tomorrow. Sure look forward to that.
Did ya watch Obama's speech last night? I was impressed with his fervor, and moved by his encouraging words. Oh I know, some of you will disagree with me, but I'm all for a change in the politics as usual. The ole boys club needs to be sent packing. I also like the way he treats his family and the strength of his wife. Mc cains wife is usually somewhere behind him, being ignored...Notice that? If he treats all women that way, we have a problem, don't we girls? I do have some concerns about some of Obama's ideas, but then that's what congress is for...Most of his ideas and values are the same as mine. He spoke to me last night and made me feel that I'm not dismissed. As an independent, he has my vote...The talking heads can tear his speech apart but it wont change my mind. After all.....There talking heads...Late ta....

Im amazed!!!!

I'm amazed that some kids still jog. Some kids still ride bikes in the fresh air. I went to town yesterday, and lo and behold, there were a whole bunch of young teens jogging down the side walk. On a little further were kids on bikes, having fun and breathing the days air. It gave me a good feeling to know that some kids still DO go outside to just be kids...I also saw older folks walking briskly down the sidewalk. Some even had Walkmans on their heads....Oh, I know they probably don't call them Walkmans anymore, but these folks were of the senior group, so they probably WERE Walkmans....Get off your butts folks,,,,get outside and live life like it was meant to be lived. Look at things that are real not animated...Breathe in the air,[ if its not polluted ] not the stale air of indoors. Just think how many times the air you breathe inside, has been taken in and released, by a whole bunch of others...Amaze me why don't ya!!!!! Late ta...

Monday cold morning....

Brrrrrrr. Its cold this morning. My clock says 45, but it feels colder then that. Of course silly ole me left windows open last night. Woke up with icicles on my nose...IM SERIOUS! Guess Id better clean out the furnaces before we need them. I like Fall...WHAT? you don't? I love the leaves coming down, and yes even raking them. Fall is a time, that if you want to lose weight, you can find lots of work to help you do that. Unfortunately, winter is following right behind, and I don't care for THAT time of year. Too much free time to just sit and read and eat.
The weekend went great. Laurie and Jeff were up and we went golfing on Saturday. It was a rough course so the scores ran to the high end but I still love being out there. Especially....with the girls. We had dinner after and then came back here and played Sequence. We ended the night all tied..Sunday was baby gifts for Kallie, barbecues and corn before they all went home. I had gone to town in the morning with Laurie and bought things for Jack, my precious great grandson.. I cant wait to see him in two weeks...I'm sure Ill have to sing, Little Ducky Daddle a number of times when I get there....He loves that song.
Today, its cleaning, laundry and out to the garden to pick beans and dig potatoes. Ill be glad when its done for this year....I'm so over it...You all enjoy whatever your day brings. Your alive and vital to my world. Late ta...

Is that rain????

We DID get a bit of rain last night. The Deck is wet and the squirrels seem happier. They [ weathermen] say, we might get more later today. Sure could use a good rain. Laurie and Jeff are coming up tonight to their camper. We will see them tomorrow, hopefully for a round of golf. Jeff wants to get his crane moved over to his land from our property. This is a humongous piece of machinery and its scares me to think they can move it on a flat bed. {LOW BOY}.
A trip to the bank and grocery store is my plan for this morning, then maybe sort through dresser drawers again. How do they get so messed up, I ask you? Maybe a new idea is needed to contain t tops and t-shirts. Could it be that I have too many of them? I go in full bore, searching for that one special top, and in the mean time, mess up all the rest....If I only had a couple...this would not be an issue. I cant hang them because then Id need a bigger closet and THATS not gonna happen. Irv says, " No more remodeling of the house." There must be bigger issues in my life...
Ive decided that next year I'm going to try to grow carnations....Lots of carnations... I love them in colors of the rain bow, tall and stately...They last forever as cut flowers for the house. I love them almost as much as daisies...I think flowers on your table make you feel good....Flowers and apple pie steaming away....Ok Ok, So I'm suzy homemaker...its in my genes...Now where are those jeans again????? Late ta....

Thursday...all day

Marissa, [Roo] and I DID go to town yesterday. We DID go to Thimble berry bookstore and also the regular bookstore where Roo found a book on making small stuffed animals. We bought that and I sent off for the materials she'd need on line. $$$$$$, whew! Its such a worthwhile endeavor for a 13 year old girl, that I feel its worth the $$$$$$. Shes into sewing and crafts, and I say......wonderful!!!!!We then went to lunch at KFC, [full] and then home. It was a good morning spent with someone I love...
Today its pay bills, can the beans I picked, do some phone calls to the insurance company. Once more, they have taken a much needed med off there formulary, so we had to pay full price at the pharmacy. They don't inform you ahead of time either. You find out after its filled at the window. SCREAM!!!!!!!Generic here we come....Insurance, a very necessary evil..
I understand I have a new reader of this Blog, and I say welcome!!!! Sometimes I forget there is extended family out there. Thank God for that...Late ta....

Tuesday and feeling a bit bored

Sometimes when your days are busy with chores, you tend to get a bored day. You wake up feeling sick and tired of doing the same ole things over and over. You long for change, any kind of change. Shopping is a good one. Lunch with a friend another....A sappy movie that makes you cry always works. Unfortunately today holds none of these things for me. There"s weed eating and mowing to be done. Dishes and bed making, and meals to plan. PHOOEY!!!! The sun is up and that's when outside chores make sense. Who wants to make sense? I'd rather make nonsense....Oh well, tomorrow maybe Ill take roo to town to the book stores and out to lunch. There's a used book store called Thimble-berry. Its delightful....couches and chairs to sit upon. Two Cats roaming freely, but not bothering anyone...I want Roo to see this place. Shes not fond of shopping so the day will be short, but I'll take anything I can get. Yes, shes 13 and not fond of shopping....Go figure, but then shes a rare gem and I wouldn't trade her for the world. I'd better go start my humdrum chores....Late Ta

Changes

Ive never really had many women friends. I always preferred men. Women always seemed gossipy, fickle, and humorless. I'm reading two books that are written by women that are funny, witty, and bright. I literally laugh out loud at their off the cuff remarks...I want to know them. I want a chance to converse, and pick their brains. Is the fact that I am menopausal, changing my views? Oh men are still nice and handy to have around, but most are not humorous. Most of them don't see the humor in a car breaking down or a late meal. Most of them don't see shopping for shoes a sport. Most of them don't see a fat waistline, as a reason to cry in the mirror. Most of them don't bawl when the kids leave the nest. Could it be that I'm starting to see the merit of having women in my life? Thank goodness I have a few of those treasured women friends, that I can share my hopes and dreams and yes my menopausal moments with. Maybe its time to add a few more......Late ta!!!!!

Another loss

As those of you that read this probably know by now, My brother Roy has passed away. I wont go into detail here, but to say I will miss him and those that have gone before him of my siblings. I'm glad I kept in touch with him while he was alive and hope that each and every one of you will do the same with your siblings. Don't let a day go by without reaching out to someone you love and letting them know they are important to you. We all have a time limit here on Earth before we go to a much nicer place. Take care of those you love........

sunday, the morning after....

The golf outing went well.......except.... for the fact that the course was a rugged one. Water hazards everywhere, and sand traps from the Sahara dessert! Hills and valleys to rival Northern Ireland! Surprisingly enough, we all had fun and learned a lot. There actually was a guy that was thrown out of the golf course for loud and drunken behavior... We ran a little late for the dinner but finally got sat down at the table. We ate and had a cake for Irv then broke it up and headed home....Jesse was here waiting for us. I went to bed and actually slept. Everyone came except for Nate. He took an opportunity to go up north fishing. He said he'd come by here Monday to see Gramps...
Today I have to pick veges and maybe can the beans up...Yes, the garden is starting to come in now. Hope it doesn't get too hot or I'll melt in that kitchen. I love seeing those jars all lined up on my counter. Prices being so high right now, its a good thing....as Martha would say.
I may need a nap later. Golfing 18 holes poops me out...Oh, Roo got her contacts and was in her teen mode yesterday. Quiet.....reserved...Looks beautiful...Late ta....

Sleep?

Sleep...perchance to dream? Pillow soft as down beneath my weary head....perhaps a quiet snore or two..just enough so he knows I sleep the sleep of the tired and peaceful....NOOOOOOOO? Sleep avoids me like a naughty child...I toss and turn and think the thoughts of the world...My legs feel like spiders are building a web inside. I walk the floors and drink warm milk until I feel sleepy again. Sometime in this long night, sleep does come. A few hours will have to do. If you talk to me at all, keep it brief and to the point or you will lose me. My brain is only working on two cylinders right now....Someone tell me where that elusive sleep has run off too......I'd pay good money for one full night of restful sleep.....any offers?????

Are you kidding me? Please bear with my add on....

I was planning a birthday golf outing and dinner for Irv's Birthday on sat. I invited some of the grand kids and son and daughter....18 holes of golf, [ that's what Irv wants], and a big dinner at a restaurant. Then I started to stress about it. Those grand kids cant afford 18 holes of golf, and a dinner, and I'm sure not able to pay for it all. Like, this isn't even a special birthday! Its not like hes 70 or anything! Hold it!!!! wait a minute!!!!! Make some calls and cancel everything! Those that can afford to golf can come. Those can can afford dinner can come...The rest, WHATEVER!!!!!!!!Its just too much planning and arranging when I have tons of other things I want to do, like go to the movies with roo and mow my lawn and do the garden.....Now....make those calls suz!!!!!!!!Late ta.....Okay an addition here. A PS as it were......I made two tee times at a nice golf course for sat. WE can eat at the same place as they have a good supper club also. I can take a cake and they will serve it. Talked to the kids and all is set....I'm probably picking up the tab for dinner as this is all my idea and golfing is expensive for 18 holes....Irv should be happy with this arrangement...He'd better be!!!!!!!!

Sleepless in Pittsville

Well, its Monday morning after a sleepless night. Oh I suppose I got a few hours sometime, but it sure doesn't feel like it. I know I'll need a nap later, and that sets me up for another rough night. AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!We had tornado watch on also, but only got lightning and very little rain. We could use some, but Irv has the hay down. Oh well, nature has her own agenda.....
I did go buy a weed eater yesterday. Its a Husqvarna, so should be good. Its a bit different then my old one, and will take getting used to. Spazz, [ the bunny] now has short grass to peruse...Today I will make bread and vacuum, plus pay a few bills. Should be a quiet day and not too busy. Trying to plan a golf outing for Irv's
birthday this weekend. It would be nice if some of the grand kids would join us too. Wish I knew what to buy him...Hes tough....OK Late ta...

Sunday at the Larsons

Humans are funny beings. We wait all winter for warmer weather. Then when it gets here, we complain and grumble about it being too hot. I for one, can't take this 80 some degree stuff. I like the 70,s. With a breeze please. I want to open my windows and turn the air off. I want my curtains to blow out in the room, and fresh air to fill my lungs. Golfing in this heat is to say the least, uncomfortable. To say the most, its stifling, and you can feel the sweat pour down your back....Hard to concentrate on your next hot shot, or poor shot as the case may be. Of course, I don't care for winter either,, so where does that leave me? Stuck here in fall and spring. Those are my favorite months. I relish days when I can breathe cool air. Nough said....I'm going to look at weed eaters today. No! Not rabbits or sheep, but the mechanical kind. Mine is unusable at the moment, and its not something Irv can fix, which means a trip to somewhere that they can. BLAH! I believe they are not too expensive, so I will go have a look see. I can't be without one here on the ole homestead. That or......we could go golfing again today.....hmmmmm...Late ta

Friday morning on the ole homestead

Morning folks...Looks like another hot one. This is a Irv summer. He likes it hot. For me 70,s will do. I seem to swell in the heat. HEY! That could be why I weigh more now! The guys are coming to install my vinyl kitchen floor this morning. At least they'd better be. Irv and I moved the frig and stove yesterday. We used a dolly so it didn't go as bad as we thought. If you don't pull out your appliances occasionally and clean behind, you'll have a surprise when you have to. YUK! I don't know how some of that guk got behind there. The appliances are in my dining room so they had better get the job done early so I can cook again. Yah right! I miss cooking....not!
Ryan called...yay!!!!! Asked if I still wanted him to do my weed eating. So he might come do that later...smiley face...
You all have a great day now. Live in the moment....Late ta....
