First day of Fall today. The weather is good though, so I won't complain.
I will wait till all the leaves are down this year, before I start to rake. Then I may get my young helper over here. It makes life much easier when you have a helper. Irv does more too now that he has days off...Wahoo! Some folks don't care for fall or winter and wish it would stay summer all year. Well...I'm not one of those. I like the seasons, and a respite from the heat.
Fall is especially beautiful, with the leaves turning those wonderful bright colors, and the crisp clean air. You can mow for the last time this year, and not have to water anything...Then when it turns cold and snows come, you can read more, and snuggle with your honey without sweating. Yah, travel can get a bit hairy, and you tend to stay home more. Golfing stops, and you can't go swimming, but shucks folks, everything needs a rest. Recoup as they say. Yes, I like Fall, I like spring, and if it takes winter to bring one to the other, then so be it...Theres good in most things...Enjoy. Late ta

Sad day for us oldys
They have canceled As the World turns. A show I have been involved with for 50 yrs, and has run for 54....I knew all the old people that eventually died on the show, and in real life...The worst part is: I missed the very last day it was on...Oh I watched it on the internet but its not the same...Theres only two left that I am a fan of. Young and the Restless, and All my children. They will be the next to go.
Its a new age and people prefer game shows and reality garbage. I dont want someone else's reality. I have my own! Sometimes you want to escape in the world of drama and pretend...I would turn these soaps on while I worked around the house, or while I ate my lunch. They were a wonderful diversion from the days of our lives. I used to watch when I was young and restless and they made my world turn slower...I tried to interest all my children but they are of the new age and showed no interest. So there will now be less tv during my day, and less tears for those that struggled to make the soap interesting for me...Not all change is for the better...Late ta

Martha Stewart's new show? Seriously?
Okay, Ill admit I used to watch her old show. She fascinated me somewhat, but this one? OMG! You have to be kidding! Her attempts at humor are sad at best, and her move towards the stars is just silly. She doesn't have the personality for this kind of a show, and I see it failing very fast.
Lord, she wants us all to buy only the very best wine, the very best bacon from another country and slice our bread exactly......1/4 inch thick....Now this is for a ordinary BLT! Come on Martha! Where are we supposed to get the money for this stuff you so readily espouse? Your dishes all match and not a crack to be seen in any of them. Why, my dishes have a few cracks and a few stains. Its called living....Sue Larson living.....My glasses dont always sparkle to blind the eye. My floors have fuzzys and stuff occasionally,,,Once in awhile my laundry doesn't get done exactly like Martha would like, but it works for me....
I DID manage to clean out my closet yesterday, but the sweaters were not all in separate wrappers and the shoes lay on the floor in a heap....Martha would be so distressed to see this...LOL Yes, this makes me smile. I would like to see her face as she gazed around my house. To me I seem very organized, to her it would never DO....Naw Martha, your show is not for me. Not unless I need to throw a few things. I really do not need to feel like a lesser person, to satisfy some woman named Martha Stewart! Late ta...

September morning
Whew! Its cool this morning. A sure sign that fall is coming soon. As ready as I was to get out of those hot wet days of summer....am I really ready for fall? Its still very wet here, so one cannot work in the yard. Those cool breezes are wasted on whatever animals pass through. It should be much nicer golfing without the sweat pouring down your neck. Its real hard to see without windshield wipers on your glasses..
Were heading down to Delavan tomorrow for Irv's moms 85th birthday. Its so hard to believe shes that age. When I first met her, she was in her 30s....A vibrant, young woman full of life. Now shes just old and sick. So sad this is. Well, she still plays a mean game of Ucher though.
I find it hard to grasp the old age thing....Of course the alternative is not great either. Why can't we just get to fifty and stay there? I liked fifty.... after I got used to it. Your smarter, braver, sexier....After that it all sorta goes down hill...
I suggest you young folks enjoy every moment cause it sure dont last long...That easy stride I once had, is now a more careful step. The tight behind has settled a bit, and the breast no longer point to the heavans, but a direction just south of that. It takes a bit longer to get ready for a hot date....Oh shit, I'm married so there are no more hot dates...A hot date now is called a hot flash...Oh well, I have a good man that loves my aging body and laughs at my memory lapses. Ill just try to enjoy every moment I have left, and do whatever I can to play and stay a silly...Hell, serious is for old people! Late ta

September morning.....
Good morning all. I had a brief encounter with the little brave buck last night....He was quietly drinking water from a puddle in the yard. As he moved into the ditch, he discovered some kind of delicious greens that he could not ignore. He ate for a long time before he stood up in his full glory on the side of the road. This is when I was given an opportunity to take a picture of his glorious self. I tried to talk him into going into the woods, and getting away from this dangerous road but he just looked at me and went about his business. It was a rare pleasure to watch this wonderful animal in his element. Hard to think that come November, it may be his last time here on earth. While I realize, hunting gives some people pleasure and food on the table, I hate to think of his demise. He is a beautiful deer and should be allowed to live to his full glory...I can only hope....that he is wise and knows where to hide while the bullets fly....Ahh life....Late ta

Summers end
It looks like summer is almost over. We see an occasional cool day or crispy night. Some of the days are still very warm though, so summer still holds on...While I am very ready for cooler days and open Windows, I am not ready for what comes after. The dark short days of winter. Slippery roads and snow up to your ears...So I will try to enjoy whats left of the warmth and the cool of Autumn, one of my favorite seasons...Thank heavens golf can last until it snows, as I'm not ready to give that up.
Speaking of golf, I am getting better at the game. I still have some work to do on my fairway shots and my short game. Putting is a strong suit of mine though. When did I go from thinking it was a stupid, boring, tiny ball chasing, game for old folks, to being totally addicted to it? Nope, its not because I;m older. Lots of young people are involved in the game too. Its because its a learning process that takes you out in the open and gives you something fun to do. To meet many nice people with the same interest. Ill keep at it as long as I can, thats for sure.
Have a grand day.....Late ta!

fun with family
Shanna and Josh and Jack are up for the weekend. We had a picnic yesterday at Dexter ville Park. It was hot and a bit buggie, but all in all a good time. It ended up with three dogs there. Ryan's, deans and Shanna's. They played and got along famously. Deans pooka being the oldest, was the most sensible of them all, but she enjoyed herself too. Ryan's pup and shannas pup were the most frisky.
When the day was over we all headed to the ice cream stand and then home to play Sequence for a spell. Dean, roo and I were partners. We took all 5 games from Irv, christy and Shanna...Wahooooooo!
Shanna and her family will be going home later today. Its raining a bit so they may leave earlier then planned....Jack has been adorable, and Ive enjoyed him immensely. Hes such a good boy and so bright for 4 years old...
I will miss them very much, Late ta
