Sad times but....

Things are really bad out there in the world. Disasters, Trauma, people determined to hurt us. In all the turbulance, its hard to find something to be proud of, or happy about. Take heart folks. There really is something. Ten million dollars was raised via text messaging, for Haiti. People are anxious and trying to find a way to contribute and to be of help. When in our daily lives, we can sometimes be selfish, and self involved, Its times like this, when we show our trues colors. Red, white, and Blue....Im proud of being a member of the human race at times like this...Late ta

Understanding

I have found that understanding is a misused word. It contains such important conitations. Do we really understand those we love? Really? Watching my daughters go through their adult lives, I find that I do not understand how they feel about things. I raised them, but they are different from me. Their views are from the new age, not the old. Some things that are very important to me, do not fit in their lives. Do they understand who I am? Not really. We dont see eye to eye and perhaps they even think I am too old now to GET it. If they only knew that inside, in my soul, I am the same age as them. That I still enjoy many of the same things that they do, just at a slower pace. Do I understand my son? Funny thing that. He is so much like me, that I do understand him. Why the boy would be like me, and not the girls, is still a mystery to me.
Husbands, whew! Not that is the biggest hurdle. To understand a mans mind, is to really have the gift of understanding. I understand that he doesnt like small talk, unless its with another male. He doesnt like to shop unless its in the tool department of the hardware store. I understand that kissing and hugging is to lead to something else, and hand holding is not gonna happen in this lifetime. That most of the I love you's, come in a card on my Birthday or anniversary,s. I understand that the things he does around the house, fixing, repairing, and just general maintenance, are to show me how much he cares about me. I understand that his quiet times are just feelings of contentment, and that when he says hes not thinking, he really isnt. Understanding.......Its such a loving thing to do......Late ta...

Soap operas?

Does anyone but me still watch these things? I realize that they are on their way out. After years of watching some of my favorites, I am finally seeing them for what they are....Example: A gal loses the love of her life. Shes devastated! Then in a weeks time, she is going off with an old love. Forgetting all about the so called love of her life.....Example: A young girl is taken to the hospital. Nothing much wrong at all, but just as they are releasing her, they discover a bruise on her arm. OMG! A young girl with a bruise.Well now, you and I both know that this means luekemia or some such thing.. It cannot be just a bruise....Example: Everyone in the town the  soap takes place in, has slept with everyone else in the town.  That or has married everyone in the town..I guess for a long time I was okay with the lack of reality. I didnt want them to live like I did. But now that they are on the edge of obsurity, I can see how really silly they are...Okay, maybe I'm just mad that they took my favorite soap of all time....off the air already!!!!!        Late ta

Out and about

I went out shopping with a friend yesterday. We hit Kolhs, and as much as I love that store, I kept myself frugal...There have been times when I spent way over my budget there. A sale here, and a sale there, can suck you right in...Before you know what hit you, a couple hundred dollars has left your wallet...Then....you get home and try to find room in your already stuff dresser and closet....Makes no sense whatsoever.... The other day I pulled a top out of my closet only to discover the tags were still on it...What the? Evidently.. I really did not need that top. Now I realize that shopping like this is a fairly new thing for me, but, there is a limit. The new things get lost in the forest of clothes, and you don't even remember you bought them. This is just foolish and wasteful sooo, no more I say! Besides....if I lose this ten pounds of flab I have added to my body, These clothes will no longer fit. Then what? Some lucky soul at Good will will reap the benetfits of my errors.  Maybe I shouldnt try to lose after all. Maybe I should keep the size 10s and 12s and eat what I like....What a conundrum!    Late ta!!!!!

Another year to ponder

Ponder is the right word. We ponder why the Packers lost that last game, and why it isnt US on our way to the rest of the playoffs. We ponder if this is REALLY Simon Cowels last year judging the American Idol. We ponder the resolutions we might have made for the new year, and if we can keep any of them this time. Pondering is good for a person. It makes you think. It makes you take mistakes you,ve made, and turn them into pluses.
Now I have a tendency to ponder a bit too much sometimes. That in turn, makes me worry about things I have no control over. This year will be different! I will only ponder if I have nothing else to do. Right now I am pondering if this post will be long enough. Late ta...

After the Fall

The game is over. My Bloodpressure is back down. The tears are dry...I will wait in anticipation for next year and the Packers playing well, and getting back in the playoffs... with much better results.  Our weather is warming up a bit, and it is almost 5.30 before it gets dark. In these dark and snowy days, I try to think of the promise of spring. All the new beginnings and the fresh smells of the gardens. Well, unless you garden with manure.....Hey! I even like that smell...Theres always something to look forward to... if you try. Just waking up every morning is a plus when you reach a mature age.... When you look out at the snow that is no longer white, but riddled with dirt, and twigs, and animal deposits, its hard to find beauty, but it can be done. There is a baby rabbit, looking for a bit of leftover birdseed., Up in the tree, see?  There is a grey squrrel cracking open an acorn he found. One, the rest of the squrrels didnt put away for harder times. Even the ice cycles hangin down from the gutters, are beautiful. Their  drip drip, a steady rythmn in your ears.  Yes, even winter can be a good thing... when you know that behind it, comes spring, and the glory of new life everywhere. Everything renews, year after year....We should also.....  Late ta

Winter

Im tired of it already. The days arent long enough, and the nights go on forever...Sleep is illusive at times, and I wonder if I will be cranky today. The sun is my friend, and I need to feel its warmth on my skin. Winter makes me feel older, and summer puts a spring in my step. As I sit here at 6.30 in the dark morning, knowing that when I do go outside, it will be cold. My car will groan with irritation at having to start up. I would like to find something good about these cold months of winter, but alas its hard to do. Christmas was nice, with the family around, but was over in a flash. The elecric bill has risen at an alarming rate, and I can hear the gas bill go up every time the furnace clicks on. That NEW costly one we had to put in.
Okay so this is a rant...Im allowed. It will all change this week, when the temps get up in the 30s and I can breathe again....I will go out and enjoy it while it lasts, and think about spring and gardens and golfing. I will thank God for my life, cold or warm, and laugh and cry and enjoy being me. Late ta....
