Summers end

It looks like summer is almost over. We see an occasional cool day or crispy night. Some of the days are still very warm though, so summer still holds on...While I am very ready for cooler days and open Windows, I am not ready for what comes after. The dark short days of winter. Slippery roads and snow up to your ears...So I will try to enjoy whats left of the warmth and the cool of Autumn, one of my favorite seasons...Thank heavens golf can last until it snows, as I'm not ready to give that up.
Speaking of golf, I am getting better at the game. I still have some work to do on my fairway shots and my short game. Putting is a strong suit of mine though. When did I go from thinking it was a stupid, boring, tiny ball chasing, game for old folks, to being totally addicted to it? Nope, its not because I;m older. Lots of young people are involved in the game too. Its because its a learning process that takes you out in the open and gives you something fun to do. To meet many nice people with the same interest. Ill keep at it as long as I can, thats for sure.
Have a grand day.....Late ta!

fun with family

Shanna and Josh and Jack are up for the weekend. We had a picnic yesterday at Dexter ville Park. It was hot and a bit buggie, but all in all a good time. It ended up with three dogs there. Ryan's, deans and Shanna's. They played and got along famously. Deans pooka being the oldest, was the most sensible of them all, but she enjoyed herself too. Ryan's pup and shannas pup were the most frisky.
When the day was over we all headed to the ice cream stand and then home to play Sequence for a spell. Dean, roo and I were partners. We took all 5 games from Irv, christy and Shanna...Wahooooooo!
Shanna and her family will be going home later today. Its raining a bit so they may leave earlier then planned....Jack has been adorable, and Ive enjoyed him immensely. Hes such a good boy and so bright for 4 years old...
I will miss them very much, Late ta

Fridays joys

One more day to get stuff done before My granddaughter and her family come up from Illinois. Off to town for grocery supplies, then home to finish the mowing etc. Trying to plan a Sunday outing at the park with some of the family. Cookout, fishing, games. Too wet to have it here at the house. Our ground is saturated, so it just stays and stays....
My helper boy came yesterday and did all the weed-eating. It made a big difference in the appearance of the yard. The frown that had been on my face, turned into a smile. Wow! That felt good again. I'll go and wallow in the garden mud to see if the beans are ready to pick. Thats probably all i'll get from the garden this year. The bright side is...I won't have to can...The dark side is...I enjoy canning. Oh well, thats the way it is this year. Nothing I can do to change it...Mother Nature is sitting up there going..." I'm bored... I think I'll screw up some plans this summer." Maybe shes been having temper tantrums. Throwing trees around and crying a lot. What on earth could we have done to tick her off like this? hmmmmmmmmm. Late TA

Wet and wild!

We had another round of scary forecasts last night. Right around bedtime, the weathermen start scaring us with their Tornado and thunderstorm warnings. They show us the bad red line heading our way and threatening to blow us away. Sometimes it actually brings us bad weather and we sit and cringe until its over. Last night all we got was a wind driven rain, and some thunder and lightening. Not bad at all. Of course some people further north got hit again pretty bad. This July has been very volatile and I am over it. Come on Fall! Show your pretty head.
my granddaughter and her boy and hubby are coming this weekend...I cant wait to see them and hold that darling boy.
You all have a great day now and maybe just maybe it will dry enough to go outside and enjoy whats left of this crazy summer. Late Ta...

Morning

The sun is shining and its not supposed to rain today. Of course that is a good guess as we never know for sure...Two more days until we go up north for the weekend. We will stay in a nice cabin on a lake with a boat. This is thanks to our kids and grandkids. A gift for our fiftieth anniversary in Feb. There will also be 18 holes of golf for us to enjoy. The best part of it all is....some of them are joining us up there...Thats my favorite thing...spending fun time with the kids.
So the bills are all paid and I'll run to town to shop for groceries. I'm making desserts, so that should be fun...Im hoping we get in some fishing while were there. I haven't done that for a long time and always enjoyed it.. We need to get enough fish for a saturday fish fry...
I bought some ST Johns wart yesterday...Ive been feeling a bit crabby of late and am hoping it helps. These stomach problems I'm having are getting to me. Sure wish I knew what the problem is...Did I really spend all that time at the clinic? You would sure think Id know what my problem is. They run test after test only to shrug and send you on your way....Hundreds of dollars later, nothing has changed...Sheesh! I think this is the after 60 syndrome...Late ta

This and that

This summer has been a wild one. Too much rain, too much heat and volatile storms. Wow! this last one was a doozy! The winds blew some trees over and a tornado or two were spotted nearby. It cost us a bundle to have our mess cleaned up. Thank God no one was hurt. The heat is too much for us to enjoy being outdoors, only to battle the mosquitoes and deer flies. Im ready for fall and cooler days and nights. Less lawn care and crisp mornings...Yah Im over it....

Politics as usual!

I dont know about you but I am tired of it. The dems want what they want, the repubs want what they want. No one really cares about those of us in the middle...Its all bull shit in a bottle...
